LibreDrive on HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH14NS40

Post by Dameon »

Good morning all.

I have been reading the forum for a couple hours a day for the last few days and I'm still not sure that I have the correct pieces in place to make this work.

My drive is listed in the supported firmware for LibreDrive usage. The Info pane in MakeMKV seems to show that I need to run patched firmware.

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

I got the impression from the LibreDrive FAQ that OEM firmware is fine and that LibreDrive runs in drive RAM without the need to change OEM firmware.

I am currently attempting to convert "Faster" Bluray to MKV and I think the 1000's of errors are due to protection schemes. Although the disc plays fine in my player, attempting to extract the main title fails. I have ensured the disc surface is quite clean and scratch-free.

I can't seem to upload images, so I can't share any of the screen shots.

Thanks for any assistance.

If you want LibreDrive support, you need to have LibreDrive firmware on your drive.

The Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide has instructions and links to tools and the necessary firmware for your drive.
