PSA About Pioneer XD08TC

these are likely fakes there is no mention of them on pioneers website or FW site https://pioneer.jp/device_e/product-e/i ... 01r_e.html
a few people have emailed me about these looking for flashes because they show as 1.0fw but they dont appear to have a libredrive section at all so they are not using pioneer hw inside

Two interesting items about that fake(?) item:

- The product packaging does not actually indicate "Pioneer". You saw what looks like a Pioneer model number, BDR-****. But "Pioneer" is not indicated. So it is a no-name drive.

- The seller's membership dates back to 2019, which is unusual for sellers of fakes. Usually the eBay scammers' accounts are less than a year old.

What I have been trying to figure out is what all these Chinese sellers of no-name/generic optical drives are actually selling.

thats not the only seller either lots of them they probably dont know they are fakes

the guy who emailed me today says the box says pioneer on it but the pictures on ebay dont show it
