Yes, it will be compatible with AnyDVD and XReveal. For both programs you should use the KEYDB.cgf.

I've checked a few of the recommended drives & didn't find any that were available for sale new (which, I get it--the physical media industry is kind of on the downswing). So maybe I do really need to e.g., scour ebay for the oldies. did you change the makemkv data directory ?
makemkv is reporting it cant write at all

this can be caused by a few things changing the directory to a place you dont have permission to access or a drive that was removed or even trying to write back to the disc it self seen that way to many times
