Hi,
2 Years ago i bought two drives, a Pioneer BDR-S12U and an Asus BW-16D.
I am not sure but i guess i had to flash both of them.
After that i used both to rip my BD and DVD collections and both worked fine.
From time to time they struggled with specific discs but in generall everything was fine.
Didnt use them for quite a while...
But the last weeks i bought some new BD and DVD discs, and mostly they are years old...
The Pioneer is really fast with BD discs, the Asus a little bit slower but now i have the problem that the Asus is ripping DVDs at about 6x speed and needs only 20 seconds to initially scan the discs but the Pioneer needs about 4 minutes to scan the discs and ripping speed is always below 0.7x.
What could cause this ?
Its the same with different DVDs... while BD discs are fine.
Any idea ?

Sorry for the late reply...
Cleaning the lens didnt change anything.
But meanwhile the Pioneer drive does not work anymore at all.
Its completely dead...
Any suggestion which would be the currently best drive to replace it ?

Any other Pioneer model but good luck finding one since Pioneer (and now LG) have ceased manufacturing optical drives in the last 9 months.
Cheers
