Hi all,
I have a Verbatim 4388 and I was able to get it to rip UHD disks but only some of the time. Some disks work perfectly, others seem to get stuck mid rip and others get all the way to the end then fail.
It's also extremely consistent. The disks that fail once fail every time in the same way.
I've tried cleaning the disks but it doesn't help.
Has anyone else experience this issue?
Could it be an encryption issue?
What are the steps to make sure I have the latest drivers/software etc. to solve this problem?
I appreciate any help you can give.
Steve
Verbatim 4388 UHD Issues
Re: Verbatim 4388 UHD Issues
Not seeing the errors, it is difficult to tell, but... It sounds like the disk has defects or is dirty.
Cleaning it is the first step. Looking for scratches is step two.
Also, does the place where it shows trouble reading always happen at the same offset? Or does it move about? Sometimes, the drive can power down due to inadequate power to go "full speed".

No
Your drive can't read certain discs. That is ultimately a drive/disc quality issue and not something which can be meaningfully mitigated via software.stevenrmorris wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 9:24 pmWhat are the steps to make sure I have the latest drivers/software etc. to solve this problem?
Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
- LG/Buffalo/Asus drives only (Pioneer drives are not supported)
- Please use file hosts, not forum attachments
- If your disc dump is under 3MB, you need to manually include the MKB_RO.inf file from the AACS folder
