4K/UHD Buffalo Slim USB w/LG drive for sale, new, pre-flashed & tested!

Post by nicholfd »

Hello,

[2026-02-06 Update] - I have drives available, on-hand & normally ship by next business day.

I'll periodically update this first post when stock is low, or I have additional drives coming.

I have Buffalo USB slim drives on-hand. All have been opened, connected to a Mac & had the drive and firmware verified with MakeMKV. They have a LG drive with firmware that I have flashed to be 4K/UHD compatible, for backing up 4K/UHD discs.

Drive details from MakeMKV:
LibreDrive Information
Drive platform: MT1959

I'm selling the drives for $235 USD, already flashed, new in box (only opened to verify drive Mfg/Model/flash Firmware).

These drives come with a disc of software that you *SHOULD NOT* use. Some software may offer/attempt to "update" a drive. If that software is installed/run, it may make the drive unusable with MakeMKV. I only include the discs, because they come in the box with the new drive.

Any questions, feel free to send me a PM, e-mail or post in this thread.

Thanks,
Frank

I purchased one of the Buffalo drives and it works great! Already ripped several 4k/UHD discs. Great communication and quick processing, definitely recommend.

Hi Frank, it looks like I posted my question to the wrong type of drive.

This appears to be the one I would be looking for:

Is it an external drive?
Can it back up blueray discs?
Will it work with a MacBook Pro MacOS?

Thanks in advance

Hello!

All the drive I have available for purchase are external, USB drives.

The drives are capable of reading/ripping audio, DVD, Blu-Ray & 4K/UHD discs.

They are OS-agnostic - work equally as well with macOS, Linux or Windows via USB. Note that I am primarily a macOS user. :D

This slim USB drive requires 2 x USB connections - 1 for data/power & 1 for extra power to read 4K/UHD discs. The cables have 2 x USB-A connectors for the computer connection, and the drive includes 1 x USB-A -> USB-C adapter. This is something to consider if you have a recent Apple laptop which has only USB-C connections - you may need an additional USB hub or USB adapter/pig-tail for USB-A -> USB-C.

I have both the slim-portable drives & 5 1/4" desktop style drives on-hand, available for purchase. The 5 1/4" desktop style USB drives include an AC power adapter & require only a single USB connection (USB-A cable included, but no adapter for USB-A -> USB-C).

Links to what I currently have available are in my signature. Please e-mail me at the e-mail address in the signature if you are interested or have any questions about the different models.

Thanks,
Frank
