Years ago I wrote a "watch out for counterfeits" user guide on Ebay with everything you covered. They posted it but I think it was shadow banned. I used Nero Info Tool as my detector.

Thanks everyone for the tips here. I bought a set of All In The Family complete series on DVD and got this warning message when I went to archive them for my Plex server. It appears this set is just a VERY GOOD fake. Even included a booklet. The Shout Factory site says they burn their episodes on dual-layer DVD's with region lock, but these are all singles with no region. Guess they're having a real issue with these releases.

Well I'll be damned. I thought I would never find someone else who could confirm my suspicions on this and indeed, I bought All in the Family and everything looks legit. Good cover, solid discs, no gold coloring on the back and the labels even look correctly screened and not just a paper label... and yet.
Been getting errors on many of the discs.
Bought it from DVD Wholesale as they were recommended, but it seems it is just a bootleg that fails where it counts the most, being able to get the actual content intact and without errors.
