I’m trying to add the Pioneer Premium BDR-XD08EMB-S to the cart to purchase it, but there’s no “add” button. It says in stock but also out of stock

As far as I understood it, you can only purchase the full package with the protective case and the power supply - at least that's the only option that is selectable.

Some computer systems can have issues when using host-powered drives. If the system’s power dips, a Blu-ray drive may produce read errors.”

Weird.
I never had that with BU40N USB Adaptor or Vantec solely running from USB3.

Happens more with laptops that may contain USB power saving measures.

I run a Mac so I guess that’s why I never experienced it.

A Pioneer 209EBK seller suggesting alternative USB connection on eBay recommends -

I recommend that you disable Windows USB suspend in Power Options and more importantly in the device manager tree relative to the port assigned or if you are not sure, to be safe all of them that have the Power management tab…
For an illustration see photo no.9 > Under the tab ‘Power management’ - DESELECT ‘Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power’

Thats a desktop drive on a USB adaptor works flawlessly according to the listing…

This should work with no problems on the latest Apple Tahoe OS 26.1

Hi Asmcom,

I hope you are recovering well. When you are back up and running can you contact me please? I'm in no rush.

I have been advised by others on the forum to get a Pioneer drive (Pioneer BDR-212V or Pioneer BDR-212BDK) as I'm looking for a UHD compatible full size drive and a caddy for it to go in (so far I have been looking at Vantec NexStar DX2)

Reading through this forum it seems like it's easy to make a mistake when buying an optical drive as some drives can be upgraded to UHD and some can't. with this in mind If you can assist that would be great.
