Convert MakeMKV AVC+MVC to FSBS on a Mac

Post by arcticleo »

Hi there,

TLDR; I'm working on a macOS app for enabling an all-Mac workflow for converting 3D MKV to FSBS:

https://medlund.com/makesbs3d-howto/

I've been keeping an Intel NUC around to use MakeMKV + BD3D2MK3D to convert 3D movies to Full Side-by-Side for viewing in Meta Quest VR headsets.

A year or so ago, I managed to put together an app on Mac for my own use to fill the BD3D2MK3D gap and do it entirely on my Mac. I had an issue sharing it with others though because of Apple's requirement for signing embedded helper binaries with a hardened runtime that I just couldn't figure out.

Well, after setting it aside for some months and then having a fresh look at it, I had some success. I now have MakeSBS3D in beta testing using TestFlight. Check out the post for more information.

hi there

is there a way to help test this out?
I own a 3D Projector and would love to use this solution.

Hi!

I found your application MakeSBS3D. It's works great! I've been looking for an application to convert my (regio A) 3D Blu-rays on my Mac. I don't have access to a Windows machine, so I was quite excited to find your application.

I've tried contacting your through the support email address on your website, but I get the mails bounced back.

Now, I have a passive LG 1080p 3D tv. I can't get FSBS videos to work on my TV or Blu-ray player because they don't support resolutions wider than 1920. Because it's a passive LG tv the best quality is half over/under video's. I could re-convert the video that comes from your application, but that's a conversion of a conversion, which I'm trying to avoid. I have tried this, and it works, but the quality does suffer.

Would you consider an option to convert the video to half over/under?
