There's H265 in the title. Isn't that encoding?
H.265 usually indicates a remux or WEB-DL, while x265 typically refers to an encode, but not all release groups follow this naming convention.
Also if it doesn't specifically say 'remux' or 'untouched' it's usually an encode and you can double check the bitrate if they post it in the release, typically encodes usually gonna be ~24mbps or lower and remuxes like ~60+mbps or higher most of the time and also if it's a DV7 file then you can be pretty sure it's a remux
It's gonna say 'remux' most of the time though so just look for that
Hello! Just wondering if anyone could help me understand why this file isn't playing on LG CX internal player. Generated Dolby Vision with 3-1 option and converted audio to EAC3 with the tool as well, then muxed together in Tsmuxer. File seems fine in VLC player on PC, and the video only file seems to play fine as well in the LG CX internal player. But the final version isn't playing audio or video.

Get the ugoos, all the other devices drop frames with FEL playback. CPM A14 has perfect playback and doesn't really need any update so we are good forever...
I find PVR/TV playback has severe audio sync issues with the CPM build.
CPM was well into supporting more multi channel PCM formats that the current 2.0,3.1,5.1,7.1 limitation and improving audio synch when just disappeared 3 months ago. Hopefully CPM returns as A14 was a few features and bug fixes away form being great.
I have a rip from a 4K disc of mine which the Dolby Vision layers brightness pulses constantly (Its horrible) but a backup of the same disc using the same hardware works well. Does anyone know if this is likely a MakeMKV bug or UGoos AM6B software issue? The disc is slightly unusual in that it is Dolby Vision MEL with V4.0 Metadata.

How do you like the G5 so far with the latest firmware update, compared to the C2 you own?
I'm still on the old firmware, before they messed up the DV black levels, so everything looks fine on my end. I actually prefer it a lot over the C2, mainly for the better colors, but also for how it handles bright content. The dithering scanlines in DV can be a bit annoying, but they show up rarely(mostly I poorly graded content), and I doubt anyone watching outside of a dark room would even notice them. The dithering noise itself isn’t very visible unless there’s a lot of green or cyan in dark scenes (under about 2 nits).
The undefeatable sharpening fix in the latest firmware is definitely tempting but I don't want to ruin everything else just for that.

There's a glow, and when you use the new near black option to fix it, it crushes black but the avsforum is full of moron who use the vivid mode so it's hard to follow.
On the old firmware I'm using, there's no glow and no crush, at least not in cmv4.0.

Sigh. So it's the same situation as my a95l after a firmware update. I start to think this glow is mandated by Dolby themselves.
DV on my C9 looks better than the a95l in dark scenes, which is mad. We're going backwards.
If there’s a Kodi add-on, then yes. Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby are only used as servers for your movie library and Kodi is what actually plays the movie on the Ugoos and you can configure your home page as you want. BTW, Plex only requires a subscription for remote streaming; local streaming is completely free. The best option, IMO, is to configure SMB access, it’s much faster and more stable than any add-on.
I'm having some "fun" injecting HDR10+ and/or DV RPU into HDR10 remuxes and if my understanding is right, for HDR10+ I have to ensure that source & target files have these props matching:
Maximum Content Light Level : 1 000 cd/m2
Maximum Frame-Average Light Level : 156 cd/m2
Besides, of course, video resolution.
Does this make sense?
For DV profile 5 source files is there anything besides resolution I should check to ensure there is compatibility between the two? Anything I can check on RPU itself except for frame sync?
the static metadata doesn’t matter much. The only accurate way to confirm that they’re the same grade is to measure the pixels of each video(with madvr) and, optionally, do some screenshot comparisons.
