Re: SDFtool Flasher

I'm new to this so please be kind...
I've downloaded the SDFtool Flasher and the firmware file (I have a BP50NB40). I can see the list of encrypted firmware. How do I find out what firmware is currently on my drive in order to compare it to the list?

Thank you,
DFex

When you launch MakeMKV itself, it will show your optical drive model, its firmware version and date. That and the SDFtool Flasher viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896 first post will tell you how to flash your drive. Note that your BP50NB40 if SVC: NB52 (a tag on the bottom of the drive) takes a two step process to make it UHD capable.

Near the top of the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide there's a section that starts with "Stop Read Before Flashing". Item 2 on that list is Drive Platform MT1959. Your drive says it is drive platform MT1939. That's an older drive platform that does not support UHD. The SDFtool is saving you from flashing the wrong firmware onto the drive and rendering it unusable.

The drive you have maybe be new and unused, but it is not modern. If you can, return it.

As dcoke22 said, it might be new but it is an old drive with the old MT1939 drive platform. The firmware on it is from 2013 so at least 12 years old!!

Can you type here what the label on top of the drive says? Or attach a pic of the label?
Cheers :D

Hey, I just wanted to clarify (I don't want to read through 90+ pages of replies, sorry). I just bought the ASUS drive to replace my failing LG 14-40 (purchased and flashed back in 2019?). The pinned post says "If your desktop drive has encrypted firmware, flash WH16NS60 1.02-MK first, then you can either leave it as is or flash any other desktop drive firmware if you want to." Does that mean I need to crossflash the LG firmware first, then flash on the MK 3.10 for ASUS? If so, do I use the recovery tool? Or am I good to just flash the MK 3.10?

Thanks in advance for clarifying.

Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1HT
Revision: 3.11
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2120-12-01 17:59
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

The Ultimate Flashing Guide helps here -----> viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634

Flash directly to 3.10MK. But the firmware WH16NS60 1.02MK is the firmware I would use for this drive. Here also: direct flash.

The flasher should check the "enc" check box automatically.
