Re: Chapter and aspect ratio issues with certain DVD's
A similar problem was fixed in 1.7.0, are you using the latest version?

Re: Chapter and aspect ratio issues with certain DVD's
Yes I am currently using 1.7.0. The images in the second post of the thread were from a previous version several months ago, but I had the EXACT same problem with Dexter Season 1 NTSC DVD on 1.7.0 a few days ago.mike admin wrote:A similar problem was fixed in 1.7.0, are you using the latest version?
In both cases, I had to use another program to make a complete backup of the disc and then use another program to manually extract the chapter information from the IFO file. It was there that I discovered the IFO file that has the single "chapter 1 00:00:00 entry" that is most likely being used by makemkv when it is writing the mkv. So at some point in the mkv file making process, makemkv switches from the correct IFO to the incorrect IFO.
For what it is worth, I have only seen this on Dexter and Tudors DVD's....both Showtime productions. And it only has happened so far with the first seasons. United States of Tara, which is also a Showtime production, didn't have this problem. I don't know if that means anything but I figured there is never too much info to have with these types of problems.

It's still only generating 1 chapter on the Joe Bonamassa Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVDs too, with 1.7.0. I think you've had the testdumps from this title already.

By you? Or is it in the forum rules here?setarip_old wrote:@blackDragon24

I notice that Mike hasn't complained, and I believe it's his forum rather than yours.

I've seen you play the rules police in several other threads and have not said anything, but seeing as you have found your way into my thread to insert yourself, I'll ask you kindly to keep your lack of appreciation for what I do to yourself.setarip_old wrote:@blackDragon24

I was asked a question by Mike. I know he is a busy guy and sometimes only has time to answer a few threads. This thread has been going on for months and it is an ongoing issue in makemkv. So if you don't appreciate the bumping, don't look at the thread. It's not intended for you anyways.
Re: Chapter and aspect ratio issues with certain DVD's
Consider that Mike isn't on here every day. Bumping just means there are a lot of no-content messages between the useful information in a topic and the end of it, when he gets time to come in. I certainly appreciate the concept that this forum (and MakeMKV) is not Mike's entire life, no matter what everyone here would like to think!
Kind of like leaving a message for someone on their answering machine while they're on vacation, then calling back every 5 minutes to ask them if there is any answer on your previous call... I know - I have a client that does just that!
Persistence is great. Being ready to supply additional information when Mike is ready to get it is super!
But bumping without providing additional information doesn't help matters. And it generally makes other begin to discount what you're asking as noise.

True, but when we've sent testdumps months ago it wouldn't hurt for Mike to say (as he has in other threads), oh yes, I've identified the issue and it'll be fixed. This one has just looked like it's been forgotten about, although there is a hint that 1.7.1 may have fixed it and I'll test as soon as I can.

It's not like I'm bumping the thread every day....or even every other day....its usually a week or so, and its always after I have noticed that Mike has been on the forum and hasn't responded back after he specifically asked me a question.
Again, if it bothers you, or if it bothers anyone, you don't have to look....or respond....I have no concern if others are discounting what I'm asking as noise. I'm only concerned with getting the problem resolved.
I'll test 1.7.1 today and see if it is fixed....just saw that it was released.
Re: Chapter and aspect ratio issues with certain DVD's
I'm still seeing the single chapter problem after upgrading to 1.7.1.

It was supposed to be fixed.paulster wrote:I'm still seeing the single chapter problem after upgrading to 1.7.1.
Let's make a list of discs that have this problem - disc title, region, preferably UPC label. Please post the disc names in this topic.

Joe Bonamassa Live from the Royal Albert Hall; PAL; UK edition (region-free as opposed to R2, IIRC).
The case is in my storage unit back in the UK so I don't have the UPC to hand but I can always get it pulled out if it becomes important.

I've tested (using 1.7.1) on the Armageddon BR disc and the Green Hornet DVD and both have this issue. Tried converting both with Handbrake and they had chapters that worked with my BR player.mike admin wrote:It was supposed to be fixed.paulster wrote:I'm still seeing the single chapter problem after upgrading to 1.7.1.
