Hi,

I just started ripping my DVD and BluRay collection and will also eventually buy some 4k UHD BluRays so I'd like to be able to back up those as well.
I have a Pioneer BDR 209-EBK as well which works fine for DVDs and BluRays and I'd like to flash it for the UHD disks.

Are there any disadvantages in flashing it now before I have any UHD disks to rip? I'd just like to be ready for it when i need it.

My drive info from MakeMKV:

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/rdisk2
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-209M
Revision: 1.20
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2014-04-08
Bus encryption flags: 13

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8600
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-209
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.20/ID60
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

Thanks!

Hi everyone. I've been following this thread (unregistered) and I bought a Pioneer BDR-209EBK from a South African retailer. MakeMKV gives me the following info:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-209M
Revision: 1.50
Serial number: QLDL000059WL
Firmware date: 2017-12-21
Bus encryption flags: 13

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8601
Firmware version: ID60

I'm running the drive through a Vantec NexStar DX USB 3.0 enclosure, but I can plug directly into my motherboard via SATA and run it that way.

Please send me a PM for an automatic flash kit.

Thank you in advance for your trouble and thank you for the great work that you're doing.
