Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
Re: Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
Yeah, already had that set up, checked first to see if it was in there already.keydb_helper wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 3:42 pmPlease read the first post in this thread for some resources/links you might find helpful when configuring MakeMKV to utilise the public keydb.
So it's no longer possible to rip anything without going through this process? That's ridiculous. And it's a disc-by-disc thing not even a release-by-release thing? I'll be getting some TV shows on Blu in the near future, that's going to be an absolute nightmare to go through. The change in AACS 1.0 (1080p Blu-ray) support has been due to the latest update to AACS. This is referred to as MKBv82 and it revoked the device keys bundled in MakeMKV which were previously able to derive the disc-specific keys for all AACS 1.0 discs.
There is a publicly available device key which works for MKBv82 but Mike has so far decided against incorporating this into MakeMKV. The lack of a suitable device key is why disc dump submissions are currently required for AACS 1.0 MKBv82 discs.

Re: Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
Thanks for the disc dumps hulahoo, the 9DDE variant of Meatballs and the 2308 variant of Daybreakers have been added to the public keydb
That is an interesting way to say 'thank you' to the folks voluntarily contributing to the public keydb and assisting MakeMKV users... Particularly when the keydb contributors are entirely distinct from the MakeMKV development team.
I understand the user experience for AACS 1.0 MKBv82 is a regression compared to the pre-2025 behaviour. But it is also how AACS 2.x (UHD) discs have become supported for the past 7-8 years, so it has been normalised to an extent.
It is absolutely possible for users to generate their own disc keys using the publicly available key from the Doom9 forum. Because you run Windows you can use SamuriHL's tool to generate and submit keydb entries for your discs. Some users find it easier to post disc dumps here as they use Linux/macOS or they want to facilitate adding support for a UHD disc.
It is entirely possible your next purchases will already be supported by the public keydb. Otherwise it isn't exactly an ordeal to upload several disc dumps and post the links here.
Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
- LG/Buffalo/Asus drives only (Pioneer drives are not supported)
- Please use file hosts, not forum attachments
- If your disc dump is under 3MB, you need to manually include the MKB_RO.inf file from the AACS folder
