Ensure you check the box to force flash.
Cheers :D

Hi Coopervid,

I have a Pioneer BDR-209D here that I would like to flash so that I can rip UHD discs.
Unfortunately, my BH16NS55 occasionally causes problems.

Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-209D
Revision: 1.50

Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8601
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-209
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.50/ID61
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes

No disc inserted

I would appreciate your help.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Coopervid,

I got another Pioneer BDR-209DBK.
However, the MakeMKV info shows Drive platform: RS8600 instead of RS8601 like on my first drive.
Can I flash the same firmware here, or do I need a different one?

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr1
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-209D
Revision: 1.34
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2016-04-25
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8600
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-209
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.34/ID61
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

One more question

Is it possible to flash back to the original firmware after cross-flashing?
If so, can I back up the original firmware before cross-flashing, or can I just use the firmware available from Pioneer?
Does it even make sense to flash back, or are the drive specifications the same after cross-flashing, except for UHD support?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards
