Makemkv can't read JAV DVDs
When I tried to rip a JAV DVD, Makemkv will try to read the disc, but will never read anything and eventually gives up. Keep in mind, this only happens with JAV DVDs and other types of DVDs usually read fine. I have no idea why Makemkv struggles with these discs in particular. Does anyone know?

Yes, this is a known issue with some JAV DVDs, and it often comes down to deliberate disc structure obfuscation or copy protection schemes used by Japanese publishers.

I'm dealing with this problem currently.
Got any tips or tricks for dealing with this copy protection/obfuscation thing?

This issue occurs when loading discs that uses the newer version of Fortium Patronus protection.
(The old version of Patronus protect doesn't cause the issue when loading with MakeMKV.)
The protection uses some methods for anti-ripping, such as a broken ISO9660/UDF filesystem that induces misrecognition, fake IFO files stored in unused area, and dummy sector area that always returns read error.
I think that these anti-ripping techniques are likely the cause of the issue when loading with MakeMKV.
