I compiled it so it didn’t require .NET Framework installed or whatever. I did a single file deployment. I assumed that’s why it was so big. I made it in C# instead of powershell just to make it an executable for people
I have fully-functioning programs which do much, much more than change the date then launch a program then reset the date, and the smallest of them is 115KB.
1 of the programs is Process Explorer, a full replacement for Task Manager with a full GUI and MANY sub-functions inside it. It is less than 3MB.

What did you do to bloat your program to 30MB to perform such a simple task?
As he wrote he included the .net Components, so it is a single file and the tool also work if .net isn't installed on your system. That's useful, especially for Noobs. It's completely normal that the file is so big.

Here I asked Chat GPT for you: https://chatgpt.com/share/68976951-1b44 ... daa06a151c

Please understand the difference between .net Framework <= 4.8 and .net >= 5

Is this Suitable for Mac Users?
This doesn’t work for Mac. Windows specific. If you give me a bit I can borrow my girlfriends MacBook and see what’s possible.
This might be worth looking at: Workaround for Mac (spoofing date and time)
Yes I’ve been doing that , but the workaround mentioned on this thread saves you from have to keep manually changing your clock/date back and forth. As the software that the original poster has created does the date adjustment for you But the original poster’s video link shows a windows machine so just checking it can be used for Mac too

Ahem.
He specifically said he "compiled it so it didn't require .NET Framework installed", not referencing the newer .NET which is not included with Windows but the older .NET Framework which IS included with Windows, thereby creating a contradiction in what he said because there is no need to compile his program to not require .NET Framework when .NET Framework is included in every installation of Windows.

Yes, you are correct, the newer .NET is not included by default and thereby would either require a separate installation or to be compiled in as part of the program to not require the separate download. But HE SAID ".NET Framework".
Hence why I was asking what he did, which means your response is answering for him based on your assumptions instead of allowing him to answer what he actually did & correct what he said if his initial response was incorrect, and gave me condescending attitude I shall not tolerate. Do not respond to me again, because I shall not be this polite next time.

For Linux or MaC and possibly Windows (using WSL2), you can possibly use Docker with libfaketime: https://github.com/wolfcw/libfaketime (I have not tested this with Makemkv).

The nice thing is that if libfaketime works and Makemkv makes a constant amount of syscalls for getting time, then libfaketime can launch Makemkv and then set the time back inside the container after the nth syscall using a file; read "4j) Spawning an external process" and "4k) Saving timestamps to file, loading them from file".

Ahem.
I warned you.

Go ask ChatGPT to write your post so it is intelligent & comprehensible.
"what want to doing" Uh, what in the living hell is this? Completely nonsensical.
"explaided only someting generaly" You explaided? Is that like exploded? Someting? Someting... Someting... Think you are missing a letter there. "generaly" Again missing a letter.... Can you not spell common words?
And the better way to write what you were trying to say while failing miserably because you chose not to use the much smarter ChatGPT would be "I merely explained something generally".
As for throwing stones, it was you who threw a stone at me.
I do read my own posts. I would say "If you have a problem with them, specify it", but you are a self-important imbecile who is not worth any more of my time.
Now this is your last warning to not respond to me, because gloves come off next post.

I wish I’d seen that before, I’m just about done a MAC version, took a bit and I have to test it but it should be up shortly

Peace friends.

I’m a web developer, I don’t typically make console apps, it’s okay if he criticizes work I described as a “Crapplication” lol

I should have a MAC version up shortly for those that want it. Will also be posting both in GitHub for any that want it.

My girlfriend was nice enough to lend me her MAC book so I can test it. She’s the real hero here.

Tested under Windows and working, but the BluRay Part of the App isn't working, because Test is over.
I had this issue too. The steps I took to solve it:
  • Set clock time before expiration
  • Open MakeMKV
  • Copy the currently expired beta key from the the forum
  • With MakeMKV running goto the Help menu and Register and paste the expired beta key over again
  • Restart MakeMKV when prompted
Bingo... you should be able to rip BD again.

My guess is that there must be some other timer or variable that gets set that does not use the system clock for disabling the BD features and re-entering the same beta-key seems to reset the 'Test' period.

I just added a Mac version. It took a bit, but I'm happy to see its finally available.

Mac users who end up using this solution can thank my wonderful girlfriend. She not only let me install a bunch of stuff on her Mac, but put up with me programming a Mac version during our quality weekend time. She only complained half as much as I expected lol

Regarding this, if you used a newer version of .NET than 4.8.X, then it is the "new generation" which is cross-platform compatible so could potentially work with non-Windows.
Including that would explain why your program to do this simple task is 30MB.
If you are not concerned with the cross-platform compatibility and want this program to function only on Windows, then compile it for .NET Framework v4.8.X, because it is included in all copies of Windows and therefore need not be included inside your program.
At this point, you already created it, so whatever.
However, I find it hilarious your program to do such an incredibly simple task is 1/3 the size of MakeMKV.exe.
Not mocking you, merely humorous comparison to me.

I cannot speak for anything Mac because I avoid those like the plague Apple is.

It is funny lol, it’s not even that long.

I’m using like .NET 8 or 9 I believe. I’d have to check again. The MAC version is even bigger, maybe 70MB. I was chuckling when I saw it compared to the size of the Mac version of MakeMKV.

Hello everyone.

I registered solely to thank Terron1 and dyoung for taking the time to find a solution to the MakeMKV key expiry issue and for sharing it with the community.

Both Terron1's and dyoung's solutions are two good attempts. In the end, I opted for dyoung's because I could set the date to match my country's time zone, and because I could specify the path where I have the MakeMKV application installed.

At the same time, I encourage dyoung to be more accommodating with people.

For example, with Terron1, since this person was the first to give up their personal time for us... and likewise, I also encourage you to be more accommodating with Kizar, since he only tried to be condescending with Terron1, encouraging you to be condescending with him as well.

Free time’ is the second most precious thing people have after their health.

Terron1 gave it to us first; you came later, yes... but he was the first to do so, even though he didn't make a programme as great and as simple as yours.

For me, it's the intention that counts.

And I repeat, thank you both: Terron1 and dyoung.

Best regards.

(I apologise for my poor English)

Hello again.

After creating the file ‘MakeMKV-Launcher.ps1’ as explained by dyoung, how can I create a shortcut to this file so that it starts up after placing the shortcut on the desktop?

Best regards.
