Hi, new to forum.I have never flashed a drive or ripped any discs before.
I would like to rip Blu-ray discs, but I also have a bunch of old movies on PAL DVDs that I would like to rip. I discovered a DVD ripper software called WinX DVD ripper platinum: https://www.winxdvd.com/resource/free-rip-pal-dvd.htm
If I flash a drive (or buy a pre-flashed drive), will a flashed drive intended for UHD interfere in any way with this other DVD ripping software?
Thanks.
Does the flashing of UHD drives interfere with other ripping software?

As said above, no.
However, why would you use WinX to rip DVDs?
MakeMKV is fully capable of ripping DVDs & Blurays.
You have no need of WinX to rip your DVDs if you are using MakeMKV to rip any discs.
You would need other software only if you want to transcode or otherwise alter any resulting MKV files.
I suggest MKVToolNix if you merely want to edit the resulting files (change stream flags, edit file tags, add/remove streams with no transcode), or Handbrake if you want to transcode.
Although, Handbrake has its own issues, for example any videos I transcode and include any forced subtitles always seem to never properly display forced subtitles until I remux the video using MKVToolNix.
That is not the only issue with Handbrake so I am on the hunt for a better tool, but it is the best I found out of many transcoding softwares I tried.

For transcoding these 2 work best: CloneBD (payware), BDRebuilder (freeware).dyoung wrote: ↑Tue Aug 05, 2025 10:45 amAs said above, no.
