UHD FAQ
Re: UHD FAQ
Thanks, but I don't see any file? Could you provide a download link please, if you cannot upload the file itself? (A MKB_RO.inf file is BIG, so you'd need to ZIP compress it first.)
Re: UHD FAQ
The forum is showing me an error “Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached”, so I’ll email it to you.
Re: UHD FAQ
You could still upload it to (say) OneDrive or Google Drive. Check PM?
Re: UHD FAQ
I released an updated KeyDB Helper version. It should be easier for people to set it up for MKB v82 decryption. It also has some internal bug fixing.

Re: UHD FAQ
I assume given my drive information any dumps need to go directly to MakeMKV since its a Pioneer?
Also what is so different about the two? technical answer or a heavily broken down answer would be appriciated very curious even when I may only understand like 34% of the explaination.

Re: UHD FAQ
I answered that in your other thread but I'll answer it here from the best of my understanding. Some Pioneer drives aren't able to provide the VID (Volume ID) for your disc. The VID is combined with an MK (Media Key) to create the VUK (Volume Unique Key). The VUK is then used by MakeMKV to decrypt the Unit Key(s) that decrypt the contents of your disc. Without being able to get the VID, the VUK can't be created. This is my understanding of the situation from what I've read by others.
Re: UHD FAQ
This is correct for AACS 1.0, but for AACS 2.0 on UHD discs there is more information needed beyond the VID. This info isn't publically in any dumps from any Pioneer drive, even ones with VIDs.SamuriHL wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 7:17 pmI answered that in your other thread but I'll answer it here from the best of my understanding. EDIT: Minor correction: It's in the Pioneer dumps but not in a format where the KeyDB can use it. Those have to be submitted to MakeMKV.

- Always email the tgz dump file to svq@makemkv.com so a key can be derived and added to MakeMKV's hashed keys database.
- If you want to help the community, you can also upload the tgz dump file somewhere like Onedrive or Googledrive etc then provide the download link in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=38293 along with a brief description, ie: the name of the disc, name of the dump file, the download link and maybe note what drive the dump was created with. This way, a key may also be derived and added to the public KeyDB database which MakeMKV (and other software) can use.
Cheers

Re: UHD FAQ
Hi, thanks so much for creating this tool for us.SamuriHL wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 7:17 pmI answered that in your other thread but I'll answer it here from the best of my understanding. I also got a Pioneer drive (LibreDrive possible but not enabled). I have followed your steps but I got some hiccups. I wonder if you could offer some help?
I tried to put the config line with the MKBv82 device key from the doom9 post using the "Fix" button and this is what I have from the output:
Code: Select all
Device key section not found.
[KeyDB Entry fix failed]
I then manually added the MKBv82 device key and the host certificate (up to MKBv81) to the cfg file and tried to run "Disc Info".
A VID is returned, together with the DiscID and EncKey as well but it fails the obtain the Media Key.
Code: Select all
Media Key: [NOT FOUND]
Media Key not found!
Thanks a lot

Re: UHD FAQ
Run the Synchronize function in the KeyDB Helper first. Then try the Fix function again to add the device key. The host cert, at least with my tool, is irrelevant and if you've put a v82 MKB disc in your drive it's irrelevant outside of my tool, as well as it's been revoked. But it didn't find the right section in the keydb.cfg to update with the device key. When I get time (won't likely be today as I'm working on other stuff for another project right now) I'll see if I can fix it so that doesn't happen. But once you do a synchronize it should have the proper headers added.
