Although MakeMKV can rip DVD discs, it is not the best software for doing so. There are plenty of other software applications that are better at ripping DVD discs. MakeMKV is the best when it comes to BD/UHD ripping though!!

This proclamation is news to me, so I'd like to get some details! I'm new at this, but have now ripped over 700 DVDs and BDs in the past 3 weeks. In general I've noticed that MakeMKV seems to struggle more frequently with DVDs than with BDs, and it's failed completely on about 10 DVDs. I initially used Handbrake, but concluded that sucked b/c it required me to re-encode everything, resulting in "Generation Loss".

So... can you provide some recommendations for a few of the "plentiful options" for ripping DVDs??

Mind you, I have not even looked at a DVD since 2007 as they are such poor quality but before BD, I mainly used DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter to rip DVD's. There's also DVDFab, WinX DVD Ripper, 1Click DVD Copy among others...
Cheers :D

So you haven't burned a DVD in almost 20 years yet you confidently claim that there are plenty of better options than MakeMKV before proceeding to list a bunch of abandonware and overly commercialized crap. This sounds a lot like your unsolicited opinion on Macs: worthless.

That's alright. No one asked for your opinion either!
