Is it possible to flash one of these on Linux?
No. You will need a good VM with Windows like VMWare.

What version of Windows is required? I have an old XP VM. Will that work?

Hi @Coopervid,

Thanks for all the help you've provided to everyone here on the forums. You're a legend. Could I also get a PM for my BDR-212V to read UHD?

Drive info:

Code: Select all

OS device name: F:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: [redacted]
Firmware date: 2022-05-31
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID06
Also, if I get another BDR-212V in the future, will I be able to re-use the flasher you send? Or is it tied to a specific firmware date, bus encryption flag, or AACS version?

Hey @Coopervid, you sound like the most helpful of folks to make my fresh BDR-212V read UHD:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: ***
Firmware date: 2022-05-31
Bus encryption flags: 13

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID06

If we're keeping score, this drive shows a manufactured date of July 2024, and I just got it last week from Amazon in the US. I have a physical win11 install ready to do the flashing. Thanks!
