Best universal UHD drive

Post by kgturner »

I currently have an LG BU40N, but my next PC build will most likely not have a slot for an optical drive to be mounted. I'm looking for a unicorn (I think). I rip most my UHD with DVDFab. I also have MakeMKV and ImgBurn for discs that DVDFab has trouble with. DVDFab doesn't seem to be friendly to Pioneer drives which is kinda what I wanted to buy, but c'est la vie. So....

What is the best UHD drive currently available for ripping with both DVDFab & MakeMKV? I would prefer a full size optical drive form factor otherwise I'll just slap the BU40N in an external case and call it a day.

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

The BU40N is better than any LG/ASUS internal 5.25" drive. Over the past few years, the QC for internal desktop drives has completely gone to sh!t.
Cheers :D
