Hello,

I just purchased a Verbatim 43888, because it was frequently suggested.
Can you tell me if it is flashable and which Firmware to use?

Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BDDVDRW GGC-H20L
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: ...
Firmware date: 2007-12-27 12:34:56
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, might be supported in future, but not likely soon
Drive platform: RS1013
Firmware version: 1.02-
Not possible.
I am sorry, I had the wrong drive selected.
That's why I couldn't find the right firmware in the instructions.
This is the right one now:

Drive Information
OS device name: F:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: XXXXXXXXXXXX
Firmware date: 2124-04-23 13:47
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

When following the first post it should be possible with this firmware, right?
BU40N on any Firmware directly to > BU40N 1.03MK

Hello, I'm something of an idiot and if it's at all possible I was wondering if someone could give me like a 123 "do this" tutorial for flashing my drive? I bought an ASUS BW-16D1HT and I understand the basic steps, but I really don't want to accidentally brick this thing. Sorry if this is egregious, I'm new to this whole endeavor.

Good afternoon,

I bought a BP50NB40 running version 1.00, see screenshot https://i.imgur.com/gcF4EhM.png. I was told that this should be able to rip 4Ks without the need for flashing. However, when i insert a 4k, MakeMKV doesn't recognize the disc and simply states that there are no disc. Does that mean I have to flash the firmware to make it work?

If so, could you direct me to all the firmwares needed to make this run.

Appreciate all your help in advance.

Why? It is platform MT1959 and appears on the list of flashable drives in post #1. I'm asking for eductional purposes.

Also curious since it's listed in the post and is the reason i bought it. Does that mean I cannot burn 4K with the drive?

Thanks for your help

Your drive can't read UHDs and it is low quality to burn discs. Either skip burning or get a Pioneer. Even then burns will be bad since media has gone south.

Many customers have made this mistake. Do not flash or it is time to get out your dos tools.

That’s disappointing to hear since I thought I scored a drive for cheap. Appreciate everyone’s input.

As a first: Post your Makemkv info. Make sure your drive is empty and closed when you are trying to flash.
