You should make a review video. More prospective customers should be aware of these flaws.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 07, 2025 11:52 pmLOL

Yep, I will for sure and I’ve collected all the data I needed.
you are determined to bankrupt themRESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 3:16 amYep, I will for sure and I’ve collected all the data I needed.
I emailed my retailer, and they contacted KS and told me to wait for their response before returning it.
This has been running great on my setup (E6 connected through an Onkyo RZ820 AVR). But I have run into a strange problem with a few titles (O'Dessa and The Legend of Ochi webrips):Epedemic wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 7:09 pmAmazing, will definitely give the injection procedure a shot.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 4:20 pm
You will love it
Yes, CPM build is a must for the true tv-led option: ''source metadata''. DS workflow 3-2 will be identical to CPM HDR10+ conversion as long as you use the histogram plus.
ps check your pm, I've sent you a link to my GD RPU collection. all you need to do is inject with workflow 1.
Can you verify I set the right settings for my use case in CPM System -> CoreELEC -> Dolby Vision?
Mode: On demand
Type: Display Led (DV-Std)
Dolvy VSVDB: Off
Colimetry: disable/remode
Source levels metadata: On
Level 5 & 6: Source
Restrict overlays: off
Preferred HDR for dual Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content: Dolby Vision
Dynamic HDR10+ to Dolby Vision profile 8.1 conversion: on
Prefer conversion over original Dolby vision: Off
Peak Brightness Source: histogram-plus
For SDR8/10: Off
For HDR10: Dolby Vision
For HLG HDR: Dolby Vision
For Dolby Vision: Off
Convert profile 7: Off
I would have written it off as a single source issue too, if it hadn't happened twice in a short time (if it is the same issue with both movies that is). I sent you a PM.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 11:15 amStrange, but sounds like a source issue. Do you have a sample we can try? I never had a rip that wouldn't play on mine.
Very interesting, thank you for this.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 07, 2025 10:01 pmRESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 11:10 amWell first night with the Kscape was not very good... Tried two streams: The Accountant and Last of Us S02.
Accountant:
horrible Raised black in both HDR10/DV
DV to HDR10 conversion is incorrect
1080p SDR stream different master/framing and actually better than 4K!

Last of us:
Doesnt look right at all, brighter than MAX webdl...

the only format that seems right is SDR:

OK, tested a new movie on KSCAPE, and it's the same crap. Blacks are not raised like in The Accountant, but the colors are desaturated and the brightness is not right. DV TV-LED is even worse. Compression is also slightly worse despite the much higher bitrate on KSCAPE. Definitely a terrible streaming service or device, at least for HDR10/DV, because SDR is fine.

Last of Us S02E01
And I've measured the whole Last of Us S02E01 episode. The KS stream(DV and HDR10) is 3 times brighter:

KScape HDR10 metadata are identical to the MAX web-dl:

EDIT: It may not be all the titles that are affected. I tested a few more and these were ok:

If you're talking about the Kscape I think the idea is to get access to content at the highest quality possible. Unfortunately it seems that device/service does not live up to the marketing hype.
