You have provided a file called _private_data.tar here. The MKB20_v77_Kill_Bill-_Vol_1_ABCD.tgz file (if it exists) would be in the same directory as _private_data.tar.

A .tar file is a container, like a .zip file. I suspect that you have accidentally "opened" the .tar file and mistaken it for a directory.

What does MakeMKV's log output say?
There is only the private_data.tar and keydb.cfg in the database folder.
Inside the private-data.tar are a bunch of .bin files, and one .tgz called "MKB20_v77_save.tgz"
Inside MKB20_v77_save.tgz" are an AACS folder, discatt.dat, and log.txt.

log.txt says this:
Debug log started at Thu Jun 05 01:21:17 2025 , written by MakeMKV v1.18.1 win(x64-release)
001005:0000 MakeMKV v1.18.1 win(x64-release) started
Using 262272KB for read cache.
Network access is ENABLED, CURL version 7.72.0/Schannel/1.41.0 (x86_64-pc-win32) , proxy server not set.
WinCdArb=v1.2.0_tiny win(x64-release)

What does MakeMKV's "Info" window say under "LibreDrive Information"? Does it say whether LibreDrive is enabled?

We shouldn't need to drill down into _private_data.tar at this stage.

Does MakeMKV allow you to create a back-up of your disk? (Obviously an encrypted backup, since you cannot decrypt the disk yet.)

[/quote]I don't know, but I'll try now.
I also just enabled "Log debug messages" in the "General" tab. Maybe that will help generate what you need. Stand by...

The "debug" messages seem to be written by MakeMKV developers for MakeMKV developers, and so I doubt they'll mean anything to me. However, when MakeMKV creates an encrypted backup, one of the first files that it creates is called discatt.dat. This discatt.dat file should be useful, if you could provide it please?
