I have an external Blu-ray drive that is showing up in MakeMKV as:
Manufacturer: hp
Product: DVDWBD TS-LB23L
Revision: 0400
Serial number: R4226GNZ426355
And under LibreDrive information, it says:
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1939
I gather this means that I need to flash new firmware on to the drive to make it LibreDrive compatible. I have downloaded mk-firmware-pack-20200720, but I'm not sure which one to use. Any information would be appreciated, thanks.
Can anyone tell me which firmware to use?

What is the firmware date??
What is the manufacture date of the drive??
It is the old MT1939 platform so won't be able to do UHD at all. Probably not worth the hassle of flashing it.
Cheers

It was literally the cheapest external blu-ray drive on Amazon, so I'm not exactly surprised it's crap. The only info on "hp DVDWBD TS-LB23L" that I can find says that it's an old laptop drive, so it's probably been repurposed from old parts and re-sold as a new product. I guess I'll just have to bite the proverbial bullet and buy a more expensive one. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, best to stick to Pioneer (if you can find any!!) and LG drives these days.ImaginaryFireball wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 2:13 amIt was literally the cheapest external blu-ray drive on Amazon, so I'm not exactly surprised it's crap. Re: Can anyone tell me which firmware to use?
Hey, sorry to bother, but all these model numbers and such are a bit confusing. Would either of these work?
LG BDXL WP50NB40
https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-E ... 1_1?sr=8-1
Pioneer BDR-XD08B
https://www.amazon.com/PIONEER-External ... 1_7?sr=8-7
I kind of just want to grab something from amazon and be done with it.

The LG, yes but needs to be flashed for UHD compatibility. Easy enough to do.ImaginaryFireball wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 3:24 amHey, sorry to bother, but all these model numbers and such are a bit confusing. Would either of these work?

The Pioneer, no. It does not support UHD and cannot currently be flashed but should be able to eventually (see topic: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=37848). Once it can be flashed, it will need to be cross-flashed to support UHD discs.
