Was lookin' for the part that identified the Platform in the next section down...
"The drive you have selected does not have the correct drive platform (MT1959) and cannot be flashed."
Based on what you've provided, tho, the flash tool may not be correctly interpreting a non-english character set when reading that field? Sure looks like a typical "drive platform (MT1959)" unit.

How 'bout a look @ the "LibreDrive Information" section of the info pane, for starters. Still only guessing w/out a complete picture.

EDIT: Re-reading previous posts, you say you are using a SATA to USB adapter? Is it one of the 'approved' ones listed in the 1st post of the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023 ? Your failure doesn't read like this sort of failure, but it's a possibility. Still would like to see the "LibreDrive Information".

Yes, (cross)flash it directly to LG WH16NS60 1.02MK.

Sleep bug good bye.

Here you are -----> viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896

I think there are hardly any disadvantages. I use the WH16NS60 1.02MK also ('cause of the sleep bug) and the drive runs like before with the 3.10MK. The differences are slightly if you notice anything at all.

Edit: If you use DVDFab also you should flash to WH16NS60 1.00. You can find this firmware in the all-you-need-pack also. The 1.00 is compatible for both, MakeMKV and DVDFab (and others I think).

If you write discs stick with the ASUS firmware. If you don't care about writing discs, go with the WH16NS60 firmware.
Cheers :D

Thank you zittrig & MartyMcNuts! for info, hard decision :)

I'm not satisfied with my Asus drive anyway, few UHD discs can't handle. For example last time I try to ripp one disc 100GB (3 layers) worked fine to about 80% and suddenly problem with offset/SCSI problem in MakeMKV, I tried one more time, and same problem in same places same offset errors numbers.
I put disc into Pioneer BDR-211UBK and 0 problems. Disc is brand new without any fingeprint.

New discs you should wash with a warm soapy water gently and dry it in the same way with a soft microfiber cloth.
There could be an invisible film on the discs which can disrupt LG-based drives (sometimes in relation to 2- or 3-layer discs). Pioneers usually has no problems with this.

****** UPDATE: Please use the more recent SDFtool Flasher, available in thread viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896. No need for the hybrid firmware anymore either. Cheers! ******
I've got ASUS disc reader, it has the recommended platform MT 1959 (might have put in wrong info but made sure if was right). It reads blu-ray but not 4K. After I flash it, it will read the 4k, right? Also, where is the EXE file I need to downgrade it. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

Just to give you all another option, I have modified the official ASUS ODD FW Flasher tool to allow the user to flash or cross-flash their drive to a "UHD Friendly" firmware.

Included with the ASUS Flasher, is the 'DE' UHD friendly firmwares we are currently using with the LG Flasher tool.

Also, if you happen to use your own clean firmware file that hasn't been 'DE' enabled, this app will automatically make the file 'DE' enabled and save it.

It is very easy to use:

1. Run ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified).exe.
2. In popup window, select a firmware file to flash. (If you click CANCEL, the auto default firmware is ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.02)
3. When the main interface opens, select your drive (if not already selected)
4. Hit "START" button. The drive tray will open. Once firmware flash is completed, drive tray will close again.
5. Done.

EDIT (24.08.2019): I have updated the Modified ASUS Flasher which will now allow:
  • The LG BP60NB10 external UHD drive to be flashed with firmware LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK only.
  • The LG BP50NB40 external Blu-Ray drive to be flashed with firmware LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.01_MK only. (Not UHD friendly but enables libredrive.)

EDIT (03.09.2019):
I have created 2 modified (hybrid = HBD) firmwares solely for the BP50NB40. Firmware BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD will allow you to flash your BP50NB40 to BP60NB10. Firmware BP50NB40-NB50_1.01_MK_HBD will allow you to go back to BP50NB40_1.01_MK if you ever require it. The firmware zip is below.

EDIT (01.01.2020):
Depending on what firmware your BP50NB40 comes with (1.01, 1.02 or 1.03), please flash the corresponding firmware BP50NB40 NB50 1.xx_MK from the MK pack first, then you can cross-flash using the hybrid BP60NB10 1.00 firmware.

Below is the link to the modified ASUS FW Flasher + Downgrade Enabled Firmware + the latest MK firmware pack (20/07/2020):

Here is just the modified ASUS Flasher if you don't need the firmwares. Just put it in the folder with the firmwares.
