Best programs for editing subtitles?

Post by Bsmooth »

I like I can switch them on and off on a bluray. But on a MKV file its not so easy, sometime I just have to leave them on or have them forced just to see them. If thats the case whats the best software to adjust there size and position without screwing around with the sync of them to the video. Sometimes they are huge and I would like them to be as unobtrusive as possible.

MKVToolNix will allow you to change the flags on the subtitles so they are forced or optional.

Just looking for an easy to use program to maybe reduce the size of the Subtitle and put them a little lower. MKVToolNix I have to admit is not the easiest thing to use, although I haven't had a lot of time to use it.

Some players have controls and settings for where subtitles are displayed. Might want to start there.

I came across software called Subtitle Edit. I've used it to compare subtitle tracks when there are multiples. Don't know if it will do what you need but it is free, open source.
