cpm A14 build is out!
No longer need autostart.sh for DV metadata copying settings + other changes.

For the movie Longlegs (2024), bluray version only has hdr10. I can only find the streaming version with profile 8 DV. Is there a way to get profile 5 DV to add to the bluray version?

P8 hybrid check must be done with the P5 webdl, so I can't help you here. This movie most likely doesn't have DV and that p8 rip is probably just a cheap hdr10plus conversiondeadchip12 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 4:16 am@RESET_9999

I checked out doing this movie myself the other week - the web and UHD are different aspects ratios on the in movie elements I found (like when it changes to 4:3 framing in the movie - it's slightly different sized/aspect squares each in the UHD and WEB unless I was just being retarded) so the web won't work for the UHD for DV 'technically' seeing as DV has info related to total brightness in the frame (and diff size elements create diff brightness levels) along with dimension data - the HDR10+ metadata would work with the UHD as it isn't reliant on all that specific type of data for it's brightness adjustments IIRC - otherwise you would need to recalculate the DV data for the UHD specificallydeadchip12 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 4:16 am@RESET_9999

Huh, interesting. Thanks for the findings.staknhalo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 8:50 pmI checked out doing this movie myself the other week - the web and UHD are different aspects ratios on the in movie elements I found (like when it changes to 4:3 framing in the movie - it's slightly different sized/aspect squares each in the UHD and WEB unless I was just being retarded) so the web won't work for the UHD for DV 'technically' seeing as DV has info related to total brightness in the frame (and diff size elements create diff brightness levels) along with dimension data - the HDR10+ metadata would work with the UHD as it isn't reliant on all that specific type of data for it's brightness adjustments IIRC - otherwise you would need to recalculate the DV data for the UHD specificallydeadchip12 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 4:16 am@RESET_9999

Btw, a question to all: after the latest update, the sony a95l oled tv no longer displays true black in dolby vision (confirmed by several members of avsforum). This was evident when watching the movie Longlegs on my own a95l last night, e.g. the frames with red texts against a full black background - it was black in hdr10 but very dark grey in DV. I watch movies in pitch dark room so this is very noticeable. Is there a setting on the Ugoos (or maybe a dovi scripts workflow?) that can fix this without crushing blacks too much?

I'm still on the private build and not A14, but could you confirm if this file's black level is raised?

Will test later tonight and let you know.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 2:10 amI'm still on the private build and not A14, but could you confirm if this file's black level is raised?

Btw, just want to clarify: by update I mean the a95l's update, not the cpm build's one. So it's most likely the tv's fault, not cpm's.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi, could anyone please help me answering some questions regarding Dolby Vision.
I would like to keep/encode my UHD discs in p7 with the EL.
However I would like to reduce the file size of the BL stream to around 20GB (instead of 60/80GB).
Does the EL still work if I re-encode the BL with x265? Can the 12bit image only be reconstructed with an original pixel perfect BL?
When I am not watching on my TV/Ugoos, I watch on my Computer with a 21:9 display. Until now, I always cropped the black bars away on all of my encodes. Can I re-encode the BL and/or EL with x265 and crop the black bars or will this also result in a failed reconstruction of the DV image?
After reading through most of the docs and posts about DV, I am still uncertain about those two questions and I appreciate any input.

No you can't keep the EL if you re-encode the BL, but you can bake the EL(and crop) into the BL with dovi_baker(workflow 8-2-1 in my scripts)

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Tested the DV full black video file. It was not black on my sony a95l. I had to go to 2-pt white balance setting of the tv and dial RGB-bias to minus 4 in order for it to become true black. If you know a better way using the Ugoos or dovi_script, kindly let me know.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 2:40 amoh, I see. I thought you were talking about the cpm update.
Btw, with the latest A14 cpm build, what should I set L5, L6 and Restrict overlays to? They are currently set to Source, Source and Off respectively. I have watched a few films with subtitles and haven't seen any issues.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
All normal then. LG TVs too, have raised black without the RGB trick. My C2 need -2 to get perfect black. My old C8, not even -6 worked, had to use contrast 49 IIRC.deadchip12 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 4:43 pmTested the DV full black video file. It was not black on my sony a95l. if your TV has a semi-transparent mask for L5, you can leave it to ''source''. Thtas what I do on mine.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I looked at the dovi_baker GitHub, what kind of file do I get out of the process?
It mentions "baked into a PQ12 output stream"/"HDR PQ stream", what kind of stream is that and can Kodi play it back? What kind of picture mode will be signalled to the TV? DV or HDR?
Am I baking dynamic brightness and color data into the stream, that usually my TV would dynamically adjust on runtime like max brightness of the TV and will I therefore reduce the HDR quality on a future, possibly better TV?
There will be no SDR stream anymore, is this correct?
So I will have to be really certain that all of my devices support HDR or have HDR to SDR conversion.
Would you use this approach?
