Hi Billycar11,

I ordered a BDR-212V from Vinpower Digital's Australian office. The drive I was shipped is labeled as a DBR-212BK. I was told to test the drive to see if it is UHD enabled. This is what I get from MakeMKV:
Drive Information
OS device name: G:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212BK
Revision: 1.04
Serial number: (Redacted)
Firmware date: 2022-12-20
Bus encryption flags: 1B

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID81

No disc inserted
Is this drive unlockable?

Regards,
Ian.
No return it I still have the newest gen pioneers with old fw if you want one see below
I took a gamble and purchased a BDR-212DBK from an Amazon sale. The drive was manufactured in October 2024 but appears to have older firmware:
Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212D
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: (Redacted)
Firmware date: 2022-03-16
Bus encryption flags: 13

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8F00
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.02/ID61
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

No disc inserted
Have I lucked out with an unlockable drive this time? If so, can you help me out with the appropriate firmware and instructions?

Regards,
Ian.

After reading recommendations I landed with:

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr1
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XD08U
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: CIDL001355WL
Firmware date: 2022-12-27
Bus encryption flags: 1B

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS9331
Firmware version: ID05

No disc inserted
In the debug logs:

Code: Select all

No SDF v098: PIONEER_BD-RW__BDR-XD08U_1.02_CIDL001355WL
SDF id v098: PIONEER_BD-RW__BDR-XD08U_1.02_CIDL001355WL

Your help is greatly appreciated.

This drive is incompatible. It has the post 11/2022 firmware and cannot be flashed at all. Return it if you can.
Cheers :D

I have a Pioneer BDR-212V that is coming from Runtechmedia. Fingers crossed that it doesn't come with a newer firmware after 2022. Will report back.

I just replaced my LG drive with one of the BD-RW BDR-212V from Amazon. Info is. It's already done a disc two other drives couldn't read.

"Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom1
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: ...
Firmware date: 2022-05-31
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID06"

I'd also like info on unlocking UHD. Thank you in advance.
