I ripped all the blu-ray disks yesterday, which required most of the day because four episodes will not rip. They are Episode 7 of Series One, Episodes 1 and 3 of Series Three, and Episode 7 of Series Four. After finishing with the blu-rays, I ripped a new 4K movie without any problems.
The MakeMKV log file is attached. Because I use a Mac, I have zipped this file. Searching the database, I saw that other members have had problems with this set or a similar set, but I don't know whether they had the same problem. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: Downton Abbey Complete Series on Blu-ray
Hi, dcoke22,
My drive, which I bought from Billy, resides in a powered case that I bought several years ago. I often watch TV while ripping longer files. What I noticed when each of the bad files was being ripped is that the light on the powered case would flash enough to draw my attention away from the TV and then go dark. Eventually, I would get the Not Saved notice from MakeMKV.
I seem to recall having had a problem linked to "device not configured" once before on another British show, but no one had a solution. I bought another set of disks, but the replacement for the bad disk had the same problem. In this case, I have watched only three of the first season's shows, which seem pretty good. Thus, I probably will seek a replacement set of disks, but merchants clearly don't want to keep issuing replacement sets. Of course, if a file can't be ripped, I fear that eventually my 4K player won't be able to play that file either.
I hope another reader can supply an answer to this problem. Thanks for trying.

Re: Downton Abbey Complete Series on Blu-ray
Interesting. The power light going out on your case also suggests a power issue. My drives in external cases have either 12V 2A power supplies or 12V 3A power supplies.
I wonder if the power supply for yours is less or maybe weak? I seem to have dozens of items that run off 12V power supplies. If you do as well, maybe you can find one that matches the polarity of your optical drive and is more powerful that you can use temporarily as an experiment.

Re: Downton Abbey Complete Series on Blu-ray
My drive’s power supply is 12V 3A. The Downton Abbey set includes 21 Blu ray disks of which 18 were ripped without a problem and 3 were partially ripped. Moreover, after ripping Downton Abbey, I successfully ripped a 2-hour movie from a 4K disk. Thus, a power deficiency wouldn’t be my first guess as the culprit. However, when the failed rips kept repeating, I did wonder whether the bad disks were somehow telling my drive to quit ripping. In any event, I don’t know how to check the polarity of my drive and don’t know how much additional power I can add without wrecking my drive.
Re: Downton Abbey Complete Series on Blu-ray
Hello, dcoke22,
I would like to clarify one of my prior comments in case you read it as being critical of you. Specifically, when I wrote that power supply would not be my first culprit, I meant that in the following context. I couldn't understand why ripping one 50-minute episode of this show would require more power than ripping a different 50-minute episode of this show especially when all but four episodes ripped flawlessly. In any event, when I played one of the disks with a bad file in my Oppo blu-ray player this morning, the picture froze and stuttered a few times 30-some minutes into the episode, which is exactly what happened the last time I received a "device not configured" error message.
I'm going to request a replacement set of disks from the vendor. Assuming, however, that this freezing and stuttering problem probably exists in all the disks created in the same batch, I'm not optimistic of getting a complete set of Downton Abbey disks. Thanks again for providing assistance.
