I bought this drive after having a previous one that worked. (It got Dropped and Broke though) Now I'm getting all kinds of errors like these -
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT ESTABLISHED' occurred while issuing SCSI command AD010..080002400 to device 'IoKit:/IOBDServices/5158E794'
and
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM - INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT' occurred while issuing SCSI command A40..0020..0BF to device 'IoKit:/IOBDServices/5158E794'
I've read some documentation and am confused if I can/ should flash drive, or send it back and get a different one. Any thoughts and help on the subject would be appreciated. Thank You!

Are you trying to rip a UHD disk? If so, the firmware is too new. Pioneer disabled UHD ripping in December of 2022, and all drives built after that won't (currently) work.

I just bought one myself from Amazon and turns out it was FW 1.03 so I guess I'll be returning since it can't do any rips for UHD.

Yep, return it. The only way to get a UHD compatible Pioneer is to get one from a seller on this forum or find a Verbatim 43888 that contains a Pioneer BDR-UD04 and not the LG BU40N version.matrixprime wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 3:33 amI just bought one myself from Amazon and turns out it was FW 1.03 so I guess I'll be returning since it can't do any rips for UHD.

Re: BD-RW BDR-XS07U Won't Rip with Firmware 1.03
I really like the look of the BDR-XS07U and my current case does not have space for drives. I'd rather not go back to the larger drive style. Any suggestions on a specific slim drive?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 3:50 amYep, return it. The only UHD compatible slim external drive from Pioneer is the version of the Verbatim 43888 containing a Pioneer BDR-UD04.matrixprime wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 3:01 pmI really like the look of the BDR-XS07U and my current case does not have space for drives.
