Hmm, that's not my understanding of how a UNIX-based operating system behaves... Can you confirm that MakeMKV is actually using the KEYDB.cfg file please, i.e. by moving the file out of the data directory, restarting MakeMKV and trying to decrypt your disk again? It occurs to me that MakeMKV might also have added your key to its hashed keys.

I know it's been a couple weeks, but just to clarify. By default disks are not formatted as case sensitive on Mac OS. It's possible to do so (at least with APFS and IIRC with HFS+ as well) but it's not recommended unless you have a very specific need for it. The default formatting will respect whatever case you want to use but "KEYDB.cfg" and "keydb.cfg" would not be considered unique file names and you could not have both of them in the same directory.

just a heads up I couldn't get it to work until I realized about adding the keydb.cfg in the C:\ProgramData\aacs\ directory, which is HIDDEN by default in windows. unhide system files and you will see it. also VLC has 32 bit and 64 bit versions of libaacs.dll which you have to put in the VLC program folder. makemkv started ripping fine as soon as I did that. click the windows icon in the bottom tray of icons and run a search for: show hidden files. mine is windows 11

Keys database
Fetch the up-to-date file from FindVUK online database and unzip it
Windows: put it in C:\ProgramData\aacs\
Mac OS X: put it in ~/Library/Preferences/aacs/ (create it if it does not exist)
Linux: put it in ~/.config/aacs/
Linux SNAP: put it in ~/snap/vlc/current/.config/aacs/

VLC 64 bit on Windows: put that file in your VLC directory
Mac OS X: put that file in /usr/local/lib/ directory (create it, if it does not exist)
