This software looks so promising and I would like to try it but VT flagged it four times.

True, these look like AI scanners and I usually tolerate one or two such flags if it is a program I know (VLC for instance) and the checksum is okay. But four was enough for me to pause, considering I just heard about this software.
What am I to think?
VirusTotal - 4 flags
Re: VirusTotal - 4 flags
The thing to think is, "Be careful!"
I've had virustotal shoot flags at me for files I've used for years, because some vendors (including Microsoft) decide that anything suspicious is a problem. If I have something flagged that is new-and-untested, I'll contact the people who flag it and send them the copy (or link) that they flagged, and ask them about it. So far, they've always put an exception in, finding that the file is innocent.
In the case of MakeMKV, the author uses an install program that is flagged quite often because attackers also use it. The program itself isn't a problem, it's those pesky users!
