Hi,
I know that the BW-16D1HT with original unpatched firmware (1.01 and drive platform MT1939) can't read UHD discs, but can it burn 4k ultra hd blu rays? The movie file is in mkv format (remux, so no AACS) and I want it to be playable on my Panasonic UB820 (like a regular UHD disc). I know how to properly burn standard blu rays to bd-re discs (reauthoring with tsmuxer and so on) and will use the same process for this file.

There's no such thing as writable 4k UHD discs nor actual 4K writers.khan165 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 10:42 pmHi,

Also, if the movie is in mkv format, it will never be like a regular UHD disc. If your Panasonic can play mkv files, then it may possibly work if you simply write the mkv file as data to a blu-ray disc but this is a waste of a disc. You could just put the mkv file on a USB stick. I'm sure your Panasonic has a USB port?
If you want to write it to a standard blu-ray disc, you would have to convert the mkv to the standard blu-ray format first, then write it to a standard blu-ray disc.
Cheers

Re: BW-16D1HT, burn 4k Ultra HD Blu rays
Thanks for the reply I've previously burned mkv files (remux, basically blu ray disc without the menu and extra features) via imgburn and played them on my panasonic without any issues (the player thinks it's a regular blu ray because it has been converted to the standard blu ray format via tsmuxer and imgburn settings). I have writable 4k discs (see the link). I was just wondering if my current writer can burn these files otherwise I'll have to buy a Verbatim 43888 drive that supports M-disc and BDXL.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 10:57 pmThere's no such thing as writable 4k UHD discs nor actual 4K writers.khan165 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 10:42 pmHi,

Re: BW-16D1HT, burn 4k Ultra HD Blu rays
So, I read your reply post before it was deleted. Those are BDXL discs, not 4K UHD discs. As I said, there's no such thing as blank 4K UHD discs. So your question should have been does the BW-16D1HT write TL & QL BDXL discs? You could have just googled the drive specs yourself to find out but to answer the question, yes it can.khan165 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 10:42 pmHi,

Thank you so much! By the way, the picture says that the writer can burn BD-R (SL, M-DISC, TL), do you know if it can also burn BD-RE (SL, M-DISC, TL) discs? Like the one in my linkMartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 11:28 pmSo, I read your reply post before it was deleted. Those are BDXL discs, not 4K UHD discs. Dunno. You'd have to try it.khan165 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 11:38 pmThank you so much!
