Doesn't 2014-12-26 pre-date the existence of UHD disks?

I don't know but I think it can do BDXL. I was wondering if it can do it or not. I don't know if it needs to be flashed.

My Pioneer drive worked all through 2023 and into 2024. I think it stopped working in the spring, I'm assuming it is due to upgrades in MakeMKV. I believe I'm good based on the firmware date to continue ripping Blu-ray disks.

I recently purchased a blu-ray (Wicked Little Letters) my drive wasn't happy reading at all (lots of hunting -> no disc detected). I bought a verbatim 43888 as recommended on this forum and that works absolutely perfectly. Thanks for the good tip. I thought, since I am playing around with this anyways, it might be nice to find out if anything can be done to improve the old drive before I give it away. I searched for my old drive's name in this thread and found a previous user with an earlier FW. Here is my info:

I am at a loss on what has happened then. I have tested this on my previous computer (Windows 11 x86) and new computer (Windows 11 ARM). It can no longer read Blue-Ray or 4K DVDs. on XS drives when this happens i have seen it be the motor that failed.
only way to tell is to take it apart as the slot load mechanism spins the disc as it goes in and out as it grips it on the edge.
unlike a desktop drive where you can just put it in and eject and see if the disc moved at all.

you can sometimes kick start the motor lol if you want to have an open drive and kick start it every time i did it with one with a dead motor lol
