Have you tried downloading the latest KEYDB.cfg file, coping it into MakeMKV's data directory (i.e. where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files) and restarting MakeMKV?

Yes but to no avail. FWIW, I have made this part of my workflow for backing up new 4K UHD discs since new keys are added to keydb.cfg at a much faster rate than the native MakeMKV keystore.

Slightly off-topic but does anyone know how to determine the key (VUK) for a disc that I own, so it can be proactively added to keydb.cfg rather than waiting for it to be added by someone else? I'm on a Mac and don't have access to a Windows machine, if it matters.

Sure. You just simply need to find an AACS 2.x processing key (PK), retrieve the media key (MK) from the MKB using the PK, use an AES-g one way hash to combine the MK and the VID, and bob's your uncle, a VUK.

If that sounds "hard" it's because it is. There are no known PK's in the wild for AACS 2.x. So....you can't.

The quickest way to get a UHD disc added to the public keydb is by sharing disc dumps produced by suitable drives. The turnaround time of this option is generally hours, not days or weeks.

(I still absolutely recommend emailing your disc dumps to the MakeMKV team)

What is the preferred way to share the dump for the UHD disc to be added to the public keydb? Create a forum post and attach the tgz file?

What is considered a suitable drive? All supported LibreDrive models, or only certain ones?

Attached TGZ files will be removed, per policy.

As Woodstock mentioned, forum attachments are deleted these days. I recommend uploading disc dumps to a file host such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox etc and sending me the link via PM.

A 'suitable drive' currently means an LG or Asus drive. Disc dumps produced by Pioneer drives are not overly helpful at the moment. This probably won't change anytime soon.
