You need to download and configure the public key database file. The public keydb is a community driven project which MakeMKV can utilise as an alternative key source.BaiDuYunPan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 11:46 pm...

You can download the keydb from here: http://fvonline-db.bplaced.net/ (Direct link).
After the download has finished, you'll have a file named keydb_eng.zip. Extract/decompress this zip file and you'll get the keydb.cfg file.
If you do not unzip the downloaded zip file MakeMKV will not be able to use it. MakeMKV will not try to parse the keydb_eng.zip file. It will only read the extracted keydb.cfg
Finally, you'll need to copy the extracted keydb.cfg into the MakeMKV data directory. The default locations for each platform are:
Windows: C:\Users\<Your Username>\.MakeMKV\
Linux: /home/<Your Username>/.MakeMKV/
macOS: /Users/<Your Username>/.MakeMKV/ (I might be wrong about this one)
To account for case-sensitive filesystems, such as most Linux options and potentially macOS, you may need to rename the keydb.cfg file to KEYDB.cfg. This shouldn't be required on Windows.

Rumor has it that case-sensitivity of "keydb.cfg" file name is no longer an issue. Perhaps MakeMKV is now handling this itself?keydb_helper wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 1:29 amTo account for case-sensitive filesystems, such as most Linux options and potentially macOS, you may need to rename the keydb.cfg file to KEYDB.cfg. Nice to hear, I hope that is the case. The case sensitive keydb filename might still be a factor for libaacs but that probably affects less users...

The keydb.cfg works well on both two discs, thanks!

Code: Select all
/Users/<username>/Library/MakeMKV
The script is hosted on GitHub here: https://gist.github.com/swizzlevixen/62 ... c129f60997 but I've also included the code below. Save it as something like `makemkv-keydb-update.sh` and run `chmod u+x makemkv-keydb-update.sh` in the terminal to make it executable. After you do that once, it should be double-clickable to launch itself in the Terminal and run the update.
Code: Select all
#!/bin/zsh

Please forgive my ignorance, but when you say save it as.... where and as what am I supposed to save it to?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Dump Submitted:MKB20_v77_The_wandering_earth_II_Disc1_CBF2(Issued in China)
A text file called makemkv-keydb-update.sh. That's a shell script so you have to take the contents they provided, write them to a new file on your system, then change the permissions to make it executable using the chmod command they provided.

thank you. I did copy and paste into terminal, and it seemed to work. I can't verify the new disc yet because it's ripping another one at the moment. But does this look correct, this is the latter part:

Re: Dump Submitted:MKB20_v77_The_wandering_earth_II_Disc1_CBF2(Issued in China)
That's not really how it's meant to be used. I don't know what system you're on (Linux, Mac, etc) and you may have to adjust this accordingly but open your terminal to whatever directory you want the new script to live. Then try something similar to this:
NOTE: nano may or may not be installed on your system. You will either have to install it or use whatever text editor you're familiar with.
Assuming that works and opens up a blank screen, copy and paste the entire script into that screen. Then:
From then on you can just go to that directory and execute the script with './makemkv-keydb-update.sh' again without the single quotes.
Code: Select all
nano ./makemkv-keydb-update.sh
Assuming that works and opens up a blank screen, copy and paste the entire script into that screen. Then:
Code: Select all
control o
it'll prompt you with "File Name to write: makemkv-keydb-update.sh" so just hit enter
control x
That will exit nano
Then run 'chmod u+x makemkv-keydb-update.sh' without the single quotes
