Return the pioneer it can't do UHD.
I have some pioneers with old fw if you want one see below.

The LG can be flashed see guide below or email me for a flasher

Thanks for the response ... after pondering on returning the Pioneer I decided being I can update the LG I will do that, and keep the Pioneer for other uses. Ya I know its a spendy drive for something that won't do the UHD, but it does blu-ray with MKV.

I will make contact with you for the flasher to get the LG out of the dark ages.

Thanks Again

yeah but you still spent way more on a UHD pioneer for it not to do UHD might as well still return it and get a non UHD version then.

Is this still the case? Older Pioneer drive that you helped me flash to work finally bought the farm after ten years and won't read any discs anymore. Saw someone mention the Pioneer BDR-S13U-X, and saw it on sale at Amazon. Immediately bought it and installed it. Of course, first thing I notice is the message about LibreDrive being "Possible, not yet enabled" and a firmware of 1.05. I definitely have time to return it, as I just bought it yesterday. Though, I am hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

If this is to far off topic or out of place, I am sorry.
I'm curious if maybe you could disassemble and flash directly to the chip to down grade firmware on drives with newer firmware. though if the flash is BGA it could be tricky to accomplish and may not be worth it.

Does anyone have a drive they would be willing to take apart and post pictures of the board?

pretty much what cooper said its 128 pins not your normal 8pin bios chip
i sure only some of them are needed to flash fw but we don't know what ones those are and you would need to solder on atleast, or sometimes in circuit flashing does not work then it would require de soldering

Not trying to step on any toes here.
I'm assuming since you stated its a 128 pin flash that there are pictures somewhere?

Boy. Forget it! I can recommend some drives that are still flashable.
