Buffalo BRUHD-PU3-BK

Post by metageek »

I have a Buffalo BRUHD-PU3-BK. I bought it from Amazon US, but it seems to be the Japanese model (at least, most of the text on the box is in Japanese). I flashed it with HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-BU12-OM01001-211902230922.bin, and MakeMKV now says LibreDrive is enabled, but it can't recognize any 4K Blu-Rays. I tried it with Back to the Future, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes; no luck.

It does work with a 1080p Blu-Ray.

I did read the Ultimate Guide, and I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions correctly.

I'm on Linux. The command I used to flash was:

Code: Select all

makemkvcon f -d /dev/sr0 -f sdf.bin rawflash enc -i './mk-firmware-pack-20200720/MK/HL-DT-ST/BU40N-B-Japan-Buffalo/HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-BU12-OM01001-211902230922.bin'
Here's the information from the MakeMKV Info panel:

Any suggestions?

Never mind, I just noticed this drive is scratching my discs. So I'm going to stop trying. Maybe buy a different one.

I have the same driver and it works fine, I recommend flash it with BU10 (file name: DE_Buffalo_BRUHD-PU3_BU10.bin) if you're still keeping this driver.

You can find the "All You Need Firmware Pack" which contains the firmware and the flash tool in this link.
