Re: Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD is KING for UHD 4K Blu Ray Ripping
Hello dear friends.
I've just received 1.3 revision drive from b&h. So out of luck. Please tell me, is it possible maybe in the future that such a drives will be supported by makemkv? Thank you in advance.

There is a possibility but we don't know if or when
For now I recommend you return it and buy a pioneer with old fw from a seller in your region.

Question. I too have this drive with the 1.3 firmware version. I see it is "not Yet Supported" and "Possible". Does that mean that someone has determined that support is possible and there will eventually (no time commitment) be support?
Also, in it's current state can this drive rip BluRays?

Great.. Thank you for the response. I purchased it to replace the BDR-XS06 as I wanted something that was 4K UHD capable. Looks like I essentially have a Black version of the BDR-S06. To be fair, I would have preferred it in silver. Maybe within the next few years I'll be able to rip 4K UHD. fortunately for me, I'm not in a big hurry as long as I can at least do BluRay.not exactly it possible but we dont know if it will ever be done.

In my current configuration, Slot loading is the best way for me to go and there aren't too many options for slot loading/bus powered.

Thanks to everyone for all the hard work and information here!
I Just purchased the same drive but worth noting that the model is listed as BDR-XS07TUHD on Amazon UK where I got mine from.
Obviously, I have the same issue of needing to wait in hope that sometime in the not too distant future I can use this to rip 4Ks.
Meanwhile, I'll get ripping all my standard blu rays and DVD's instead!

EDIT: I think I see it's Dec 2022 (the cut off)?

Re: Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD is KING for UHD 4K Blu Ray Ripping
Recently cleaning up to start a new project PC/NAS plex box, remembered that I purchased a XS07 a few years ago and was a bit stressed that I may have upgraded the firmware to v1.03.
Just did a Nero InfoTool check and firmware is reporting as v1.02, what is the best steps to get this drive ripping backups of my BR & UHD collection to a Synology NAS (+920) with ease or maybe even a spare Dell XPS 8700 (i74790k) that I have laying around?
How long would a UHD disc take to rip also? As I just wanted to set aside an appropriate amount of time over a rainy weekend to get the job done

That drive will do UHD discs in about 1h to 1h 30 mins

Are these good for triple layer discs? Are there better brands for triple layer where I don't have to worry about firmware issues?

Pioneers are the best for UHD but you pretty much can't buy them retail with old fw.kcaudiovideo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 4:09 pmAre these good for triple layer discs? Are there better brands for triple layer where I don't have to worry about firmware issues?

Hi Everybody,RemasterRichie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:05 pmIs it expensive? Yes!
Does it work out of the box? Yes!
Did I wish I had this information before researching for 100 years and buying multiple drives? YES!
Blu Rays? You Bet, 4K UHD 4K Blu Rays with HDR? 1000% Yes =)
Even DVDs? Confirmed =)
Hi All, Jan 2023 here, and if your rediscovering your movies via 4K like the rest of these amazing users on the forum, this drive is the ultimate beast with MakeMKV if your on a Mac.
Connects via USB C or USB A, it's external, super slim, Mac OSX Compatible, no need to worry about firmware or anything it just works out of the box. Connect it, Open MakeMKV, and you know the rest.
Thanks all!
Please help me out here, I just bought this week the same Pioneer drive (as the member above) with the 1.02 firmware, but according to the Friendly drives Team, to rip 4K Blurays I need to buy ( a pricey) Leowo Software suite, alone MakeMKV wont rip 4K??? funny because I just read something different by RemasterRichie. Can some please explane this to me? Knowing that I will be very Happy with the Pioneer but it surprises me dat it wont rip or copy 4K UHD with only MakeMKV.... and have to buy a other expensive software to make this happen. best regards Alex
