Hello there, sorry I am a noob here and never owned a driver before.
Can you guys please tell me which one should I get, the one that will last longer and have less error for ripping 4KUHD/HDR Blu-ray discs and Audio CD(Music albums)??
Pioneer BDR-212BK
https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Pioneer-B ... 500&sr=8-1
Pioneer BDR-212UHBK
https://www.amazon.co.jp/Pioneer-BDR-21 ... rrency=EUR
Are any of these compatible to flash the firmware to RIP 4KUHD discs and to make the drive region free please??
Sorry again for these questions, I am just a noob and really would like to know if any of these drives are flashable. My friend will travel to Japan in 2 weeks time and he will buy any one of these there and bring over to me. But I must choose the right one as it won't be possible to return the drives once he comes back from his holidays from Japan.
Pioneer BDR-212 model variants [WHICH SHOULD I GET?] LibreDrive support?
Re: Pioneer BDR-212 model variants [WHICH SHOULD I GET?] LibreDrive support?
If it has a firmware version on or after 12/22/2022, it won't work for UHD. It doesn't matter which model you buy.

Pretty much all the Pioneer drives available at retail will have firmware that's too new for LibreDrive support and it can't be downgraded unfortunately.

I haven't seen that drive mentioned before. It seems like it might have a Pioneer 209 in there, is that right?Coopervid wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:34 amBuy this drive and post again. This can still be flashed. IODATA BRD16 QX.

I don't think the OP is in Japan, though I don't know where in the world they are. I wonder what the best option is based on where the OP is located?
Where in the world are you U2CAR?
Re: Pioneer BDR-212 model variants [WHICH SHOULD I GET?] LibreDrive support?
The IO Data is a 212 compatible drive, but the IO Data firmware comes up as 209 which is completely misleading.
But I also suggest to a get a drive regionally. Especially for warranty reasons.
