Hey, I bought a LG BP40NB40 off ebay as "untested/for parts" and obviously I knew when buying it there was a chance that it would be faulty. I got it, flashed it, and it works great!
There is one oddity with it though, and I was wondering if there was anything I could do about it. It reads Blurays, and it reads CDs, but DVDs just spin up and down over and over. I would have thought that if the red laser was shot, that CDs would fail as well as DVDs, but they work fine. I took it apart, but unfortunately I didn't find any old fashioned pots to adjust. Is the red laser just on its way out, and that's why CDs are fine, or is there some other adjustment I can make?

If you've taken it apart you could try cleaning the optics. Others on this forum that know way more than I do recommend using a Q-tip dipped in alcohol then dry with the other side. Do that twice.
