Ripping 4K UHD Disks
Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
Could a recent Windows 11 update be causing my MakeMKV problem?
Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
I've got no idea, since I got the notebook just about 2 weeks ago, it's running the very latest windows version and patches. Maybe, if you got an older ISO, run it through Rufus as Win-to-Go on an USB thumb drive and boot from it may help?
Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
This is very disappointing that I haven't been able to get the HK data to download. It keeps failing. I'm confident that MakeMKV has access thru my firewall. I'm using Cloudfare for DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.1.0.0). I have spent the better part of 2 hours bouncing my VPN around the world and no joy. This is not only frustrating leaves me asking myself how are other members getting this to work? The confusing thing is that this problem just started happening in March 2024. I was able to rip UHD disks with no problems before that. Neither of my drives will rip UHD. Normal blu-ray disks rip in 25-35 min. I'm really don't have a clue what happened or how to fix it.

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
Out of ideas, so try this? External to MakeMKV, but hey, if it works...
Download KEYDB.cfg to your MakeMKV data directory...
(there is mention, somewhere, that the case of the filename matters IIRC. YMMV)
windows default is: %UserProfile%\.MakeMKV
unless modified by user from: Preferences > General tab

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
Glad to hear that. Very sorry it doesn't work as intended, but the community is great for
providing solutions. Don't know where you are, but I'm personally grateful for the workarounds clever people have found.
Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
How 'bout when MakeMKV doesn't auto-update & decrypt the disc you're trying to rip? It's not guaranteed, but that's when I'd try...
Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
If you use FindVUK synchronize it will update the local file and that needs only seconds. No need to download the whole file over and over.
