Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
oh i see what you did wrong. You have to input the videos in 2-4 and not the RPU
Drag and drop the first video file and press enter..."F:\Films\FILMMUXER\transfer_cmv40_to_cmv29\Dune 2 (bluray)_RPU.bin"
Drag and drop the second video file and press enter..."F:\Films\FILMMUXER\transfer_cmv40_to_cmv29\Dune 2 (stream)_RPU.bin"
Drag and drop the first video file and press enter..."F:\Films\FILMMUXER\transfer_cmv40_to_cmv29\Dune 2 (bluray)_RPU.bin"
Drag and drop the second video file and press enter..."F:\Films\FILMMUXER\transfer_cmv40_to_cmv29\Dune 2 (stream)_RPU.bin"

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So I just ran the 2-4 frame difference workflow and it showed 0 frame difference. However, if I look at the metadata plots, there is clearly some frame difference... And also the extracted PNGS do not look the same between the 2 sources at all. No idea why.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 1:47 pmoh i see what you did wrong. As it says, this workflow will not always find a difference. Finding automatically the frame difference between two sources is not easy, It relies on scene cuts and movies with very long shots at the beginning of the movie will sometimes not work. You have to find the difference in manual mode in that case but I would say, workflow 2-4 can find/display the right difference 65% of the time but you can calculate it with the exported frames 95% of the time so yeah, there's a remaining 5% of the movies that you have to do manually.

How do I do it manually?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 12:14 amAs it says, this workflow will not always find a difference. Edit: Well I use the Go To function on mpc hc to go to the beginning of a random scene and compare the frame number between 2 videos. Is that the way to do it?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So I found the bluray file was 24 frames behind the stream file. I ran workflow 2-6 and put in -24, but got another error below. Is it asking me to take the dovi_tool_2.9_to_4.0.exe from the tools folder and put it in the same folder as the movie files?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 1:59 amcheck somewhere in the p8 hybrid maker tutorial. get the latest beta, the path to the 2.9 to 4.0 tool was incorrect in 2.0.7. And don't forget to turn on the conversion at line 192

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Alright. Before reading this reply of yours, I moved the 2.9-to-4.0 tool to the same folder as the video files and it ran successfully. Checked the rpu plot/frames of the final mkv file and it seemed correct. Will watch the movie later this week and see if there's any problem. What are the visible image quality improvements of cmv4.0 compared to 2.9 that I should be able to notice?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 10:37 amget the latest beta, the path to the 2.9 to 4.0 tool was incorrect in 2.0.7

cmv4.0 trims is how the movie was graded originally and how the colorist saw it on his monitor. 2.9, is just generated from 4.0 by an algo.
And as I said the other day, cmv2.9 has crushed black ( at least the two LG TV and hisense TV I tested).

Btw, are the levels to copy always 3, 8 and 9 for every movie? What do those levels mean in layman's terms?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
when you transfer 4.0 to 2.9, yes.
L3 = offset to L1... L1+L3 = Algo automatic tone mapping when the content exceeds your TV capabilities
L8 = artistic trim pass(es), manually done by the colorist for a more accurate tone mapping when the content exceeds your TV capabilities
L9 = Mastering display primaries color are signaled shot by shot for better alignment with the metadata bitstream carriage.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Can anybody help me understand the more technical details of Dolby Vision (and HDR10[+])?
Here is my basic understanding:
1) HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision metadata is stored as packets (NAL/SEI units) inside the HEVC stream.
2) Dolby Vision calls its metadata "Reference Picture Units (RPU)". HDR10(+) metadata doesn't have a specific name.
3) These metadata packets can be extracted (dovi_tool and hdr10plus_tool). dovi_tool creates RPU binaries and hdr10plus_tool creates JSON.
4) Dolby Vision Profile 7 also contains an extra video HEVC video layer (MEL and FEL).
Here are my questions:
1) Is the video stream separate from the HDR data? For example, can you theoretically remove the HDR packets and still watch the video?
2) Does the RPU and FEL/MEL stream contain all of the Dolby Vision data?
3) What does the Dolby cm_analyze tool do?

On a different note, is there a way to know which is the right streaming file to download? For example, I see these two uploads for dune 2:
Dune.Part.Two.2024.Eng.Fre.Ger.Ita.Spa.2160p.WEBMux.DV.HDR.HEVC.Atmos-SGF
Dune.Part.Two.2024.2160p.WEB-DL.DV.HDR10.PLUS.ENG.LATINO.HINDI.DDP5.1.Atmos.H265.MP4-BEN.THE.MEN
How is WEBMux different from WEB-DL? Does it matter if it is hevc or h265 or even x265? And how come the WEB-DL upload has hdr10+ in it (i dont remember dune 2 has hdr10+ on either disc or streaming wise)?
