3D blu-ray is dead, may it rest in peace.

How would/did a regular person even watch a 3D movie at home? I had 1 friend that had a 3D TV complete with 2 pairs LCD glasses. I didn't know anyone else who ever had one. I have a few movies on my shelf that have a 3D version in the box, but I've never had a way to watch them.

3D capability is still common with projectors. So for folks who care about it, there are still options for new display devices, just not direct view sadly.

Sad isn't it. It seems so stupid to actually remove the support for a format, even if they stop shipping the glasses by default. I still have Panasonic plasmas and the 3D is really excellent.

It never helped that they released a bunch of movies that weren't actually filmed in 3D with 3D added in post as a gimmick to sell copies to the 5 people with 3D TVs, and anyone who saw those immediately went out and bought a TV without 3D support.
