Any help would be much appreciated

It would help to see the MakeMKV 'Drive Info'/'LibreDrive Info' output, FW attempted, etc. as we don't really know what you're working w/, but this might help?

Let me just check my crystal ball....... C'mon mate! Crikey. Try giving us some actual information about your drive..... What is it? what have you done to it? what have you tried? what errors (if any) are you getting? Show us what MakeMKV says on the right hand side.
Cheers :D

When I insert a UHD movie it just spins and spins until it gives up. No error messages are displayed just "MakeMKV v1.17.7 win(x64-release) started". I have Tried to use the drive on Two different MACs M1 and M2 as well as the Windows machine I used SDFtool Flasher on.

Bottom of the drive says:
MODEL: BP60NB10
SVC CODE: NB12

MakeMKV Says:
Drive Information
OS device name: G:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BP50NB40
Revision: 1.03
Firmware date: 2120-05-07 09:17
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 75

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

I believe I may have put the wrong FW on it SDFtool Flasher but did not notice it before I posted this comment. I since have attempted to flash it through CMD, which it says it was successful but It does not appear to have solved the issue.

C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV>makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d G: rawflash -i C:\Users\tsiec\Documents\LG\DE_LG_BP60NB10-NB12_1.02-MK.bin

Reading input file C:\Users\tsiec\Documents\LG\DE_LG_BP60NB10-NB12_1.02-MK.bin
Flashing flags = 0x0 : 0 0 0 0 : ---- ---- ---- ----
Current Drive ID: HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_BP50NB40_1.03_212005070917_SIM
Using USB chipset workaround for Desktop drive handshake
Ready to write drive flash memory. (auto confirmed)
Operation started: Sending flash image to drive
100% Operation finished
Operation started: Programming flash
100% Operation finished
Done successfully

I believe I may have bricked this drive.

Um, no.... For some reason, you have flashed your UHD drive with non UHD firmware. Why on earth would you flash it with BP50NB40 firmware???? You should have directly flashed it with BP60NB10 NB12 1.02-MK firmware!!!

To fix this using SDFTool flasher, follow the steps below:

select the drive
select recovery
in the popup choose the BP50NB40 1.03 firmware that you already flashed to the drive
in the normal firmware drop box select the BP60NB10 NB12 1.02-MK firmware
click START and wait (about 30 sec or so...) until finished
Cheers :D

Hi all!

I just wanted to inform that i have successfully patched my Vinpower "enhanced" LGWH16N58 from original "non UHD" firmware "HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH16NS58_1.V9" to the "UHD friendly" firmware "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS58-1.V5" included in a zip file from another thread in this forum (mk-firmware-pack-20200720). I had to to an intermediate step of patching firmware "DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.02_MK" from a zip file from another thread in this forum (All You Need Firmware Pack (MartyMcNuts)).
Now i can rip UHD Blurays and at the same time retain the Vinpower features concerning quality checks/tests on my bluray burns.
Thank you to the SDFtool Flasher developer and to the others who provided the bin files. :)

Out of curiosity, why are you looking for that one? Will the one in Billy's all-you-need zip file or the one in Marty's download not work for some reason?

Re: Downgrade WH16NS60

Post by Jim0722 »

Hi Marty,

I have a desktop LG WH16NS60 with a Rev. 1.03 firmware. This plays blu-ray disks but cannot play 4K UHD disks.
I have downloaded your sdftool_flasher_1.3.5 and firmware pack, followed by dumping the firmware of my drive successfully ("Read" mode).

When I read your earlier posts I thought that I need to first reflash to an 1.03_MK (unencrypted) version. So I was looking for a 1.03_MK firmware for WH16NS60, but could not find one.

So I used the "Write" option from sdftool and tried to "Write" DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin over the existing 1.03 firmware, which gave an error 0x82052603.

Appreciate if you can point me to the right sequence of updates and the needed .bin files. :D

Regards,
Jim

No, write WH16NS60 1.02-MK. This is the recommended firmware.
Cheers :D

Thanks for the quick response Marty. I followed your suggestion and successfully downgraded my wh16ns60 to Rev. 1.0, but this drive is still unable to play 4K UHD disks.

After the downgrade, the drive still plays blu-ray disks without issues but cannot read the 4K UHD disk. Screenshots of those errors are attached below. Appreciate if you can suggest any resolution.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

There are no attachments shown. They don't work atm.

The goal really isn't to play then but to rip them, although they can be played by using MakeMKV as the on-the-fly decrypter and an unofficial player such as VLC, MPC-HC etc. Just don't try and use PowerDVD.
Cheers :D

Sorry but attaching screenshots is a bit of a problem.
Basically the rev. is now 1.0 but when MakeMKV tries to read the 4K UHD disk, I repeatedly get these errors -
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:INVALID FIELD IN CDB' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00030.m2ts' at offset '0'
Title #00030.m2ts was skipped.

Also the disk protection shows as AACS2.0/C v61

Is it possible to rip my own AACS2.0 encrypted disks?
