@Reset9999, got any suggestions to get FEL MKV's to work propperly with Kodi?
I don't know about Kodi but it plays fines in PLEX on my end(except for the slight BL_EL OOS)
We just received the Nokia 8010 which has the amlogic S905X4-K chip (with the dolby vision license) but can't get DV FEL to work in CoreElec V21.0. There is very little written about this little box as the bulk of the information is about the AM6B and plus models. Technically it should be able to play it in CoreElec seeing as how the Chromecast 4k has the lower-end/older S905X3 chip and DV FEL works on there.

DV is triggered but the test video (this device can decode FEL) stays red, so I think it plays it in MEL-compatible mode (profile 8.1 or similair). FEL also doesn't work in the Android TV os that it comes with out of the box. We tried it in Plex the same way as we did with the CCTV 4K and it didn't work. Also enabled the ''force profile 7'' option you mentioned for the CCTV, it didn't work.

The reason we went for the Nokia 8010 was because it cost us 99 euros at Amazon. The Ugoos is either not available anywhere or marked up so I wanted to leave that option for later.

UPDATE: After seeing the availability and pricing of the AM6B+ I decided that the newer AM8 is a better option. I can get that for about the same price as the AM6B+, sometimes even cheaper! It has the newer and updated S928X-J chip and should also work.
Not at all correct! the Point of the Ugoos AM6B+ and the Minix varient is that the are the only ones that amlogic didnt cripple FEL decoding! ALL other chips and newer chips are Locked! facts taken from the Coreelec forums!

@RESET_9999 I recently came up with two questions about Dolby Vision work:

1. When having retail Dolby Vision what is better to use when generating HDR10+, OSCs or Davinci Resolve ones? (Or vice-versa)

2. Since UHD Blu-rays only have the CMv2.9 metadata block, is it better to generate a new Dolby Vision RPU with davinci and transfer the CMv4.0 block to the UHD Blu-ray?

1- OSC always.

2- If the cmv2.9 rpu has L2 trims, no but you can transfer the retail cmv4.0 block from web-dl to bluray if it's the same metadata.
If you want to transfer a generated cmv4.0 block to an existing cmv2.9 rpu, you must transfer all the levels: 1-2-3-8-9

I'm a bit confused since in your updated video on how to generate Dolby Vision and HDR10+ via Davinci Resolve you explicitly mentioned that L2 trims must be removed in order to achieve the most "natural" and near-creator-intended look possible. What has changed?
I knew this question would come up haha... I did more test about the trims and it turns out, that all the trims in cmv2.9(100-600-1000) are generated from the manual L8 100nits trim and if no L8 trims were done by the colorist, the cmv2.9 trims are 100% generated.
Trying to understand the final verdict on this. Since we don't have the colorist to determine if overriding the generated L2 trims is appropriate, isn't the best option to still remove the trims? Or are you saying that leaving them in there seems okay since colorists often end up keeping the generated trims anyways? To keep or not to keep -- thoughts? :) thanks

well, it's up to your preference but cmv2.9 + L1/L2 generated trims most of the times looks closer to cmv4.0 L1/L3 tone mapping and a lot of colorists seem to be ok with generated trims for the cmv2.9 bluray delivery.
One thing is for sure, they rarely do 600 and 1000nits trim and they only do a 100nits L8 trim and any adjustment will be reflected in the generated cmv2.9 trims bloc at three levels (100/600/1000). A cmv4.0 workflow is more aggressive and seems to be designed to never clip unless you change the L1 tunning. Old cmv2.9 workflow without doing trims can look brighter but can clip.

Now that I have access to the trims control in Resolve, I did an example of how the level 2 trims get updated through L8 100nits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15HTaR0hRvI

Ok more info about this. It seems that this is another LLDV bug because I just tried a 1600nits edid (sony A95) in TV-LED and the trims are working with the 1000nits rpu test file.
This bug(l2 ignored) also affects the devices (chromecast/ firetv) that do fake TV-LED. Also present on the latest ATV in LLDV.
Hi, RESET! 8)
Does Ugoos AMB+ have the same LLDV bug?
If it does then probably worth sticking with a CE build that supports a custom DV block in EDID.

I don't know, I did not try LLDV and after years of testing, I can finally enjoy a device that does everything right(tv-led) so I don't feel like testing devices anything anymore.
I think there's a cheap splitter ( Ezcoo) that will let you upload custom edid, so that might be an option if you don't want to buy the very expensive hdfury device.

I finally purchased Ugoos device after reading all the feedback from this thread. The picture in dolby vision movies was much brighter than my shield pro. Looks like it's well worth the puchase 8)

If I understand correctly, the three best devices are the following:

UGOOS AM6B plus
UGOOS AM6 plus
Minix u22x-j max

Is this correct? What's the difference between them and is there any recommendation for the one best option?

All pretty much the same, the AMB6 Plus probably has wifi 6 and the non plus doesn't. What matters is that they all have the amlogic s922xj soc. The AMB6 Plus probably has the largest community but the cheapest one you find, is the best option.
