Update 2: The design of this site makes everything i mentioned in my previous Update kind of invisible and you need to actively look for this information.
Maybe add the company you buy from and explain under which circumstances and why the key can get removed in a more present way to the purchase page.

I'm no stranger to forums or inexperienced with IT, so this is just my impression.

makemkv has a PayPal option in the usa pretty sure it does every where that allows it but it will be missing in some country's where paypal is not available.
makemkv was never 100 euro

i dont think any keys ever have been disabled.
but even so its obviously for if someone shares it publicly that would have to have that key disabled

Just taken the plunge and bought a registration, pleased to report that the registration key arrived immediately by email as part of my PayPal receipt.

It appears User "Woodstock" is directly involved in this project and it is not a good look to be engaging in a negative way with users on this board.

I was asked by the author of the program to monitor the boards for him. My compensation for this is $0/year (that's a zero). On average, it takes about an hour a day to maintain the boards, and keep people from seeing advertising for porn sites, attack messages, and such. That makes my pay $0/hour.

This is somewhat higher compensation for this work than on my own boards, where I have the additional cost of maintaining the hardware, but it is still low.

Oh, and I also had to pay to register MakeMKV a dozen or so years ago, so I guess the cost of putting up with people who do not appreciate such things is kind of high.

I'm sorry, i do appreciate it and i have no clue how much work or how complicated or sophisticated skills this needs, but i gave my reasons in my previous posts.

And they are far from not appreciating it, imho.

Over the span of like 2-3 years i spent 200 Euros on wow privat servers, but in small steps.
And i was playing there in lockdown times hundreds of hours.

I do not want to say, because i can't even guess, how much time the maintenance of such server compared to keeping makemkv alive and improving it is.

But this is one big pay at one time with no clue where it goes to.
And i do save money in advance, but that is for critical repairs such as my car or other devices that suddenly break down.

I bought it with PayPal. I got confirmation emails etc. None of them have a key in them. I emailed support because one email said to do that to get the key but I am seeing all these other people say their key arrived via email right away. Nothing in my spam folder. My emails only list an order number and invoice ID number. Am I missing something here?

Was the subject line for the email containing the key "Your MakeMKV order is complete ([order number])"?

Because I got that email, and while there was a section where it looks like the license would be, the section was blank.

It's not good that the mods are not paid at all. Clearly I do not agree with this policy.

I'm not at all trying to be a hostile user. I'm just trying to understand what has happened.

Is it normal for the developer to go dark for almost half a month?

Has something happened where I need to start looking for another program to make digital backups?

The boards are filling with a large number of users paying and not getting keys. Having to email some paypal entity directly for a key is concerning.

I'm not feeling good after investing in a Blu ray drive.

We're a small community, 2 weeks afk is maybe not that crazy. Maybe they had IRL stuff to do like moving house, health issues, or just super busy with other stuff.

I just spent 2 weeks archiving 1TB of DVDs and got nothing else done that entire week. Just stuck in a cycle of go to sleep -> wake up -> archiving -> go to sleep -> wake up -> archiving etc. Guess I really needed to get those DVDs done

I found a program called Leawo that makes MKV files. I would rather not invest in another program if this one serves my needs. It's a little cheaper but I'm already comfortable with MakeMKV.

I also don't like the website as it feels shady but I did watch a youtube video about it and seems decent.

However I am using handbreak after I process the MKV files to shrink it down.

Decided to buy a license after the beta key ran out and since I've been using the program for over 4 years I figured it's time to support. Bought the key but the key was never delivered, just a blank spot in the email where it was supposed to be haha. Had a full stack of blu-rays that were ready to be ripped too. I understand it is the weekend and I guess the pre-made keys were all taken up since I saw people got their key almost instantly recently.

Just buy it alreeady - yep, I did that. After a break where I was using it under the Beta version it now isnt working and I've used it enough for it to be useful and warant the price tag, so last night I bought it. However I'm now stuck full stop.

I paid. I got two emails telling me I had paid successfully, no registration key or any way to activate what I've just paid for and continue using it. Seems now I'm at the whim of the universe as to when/how I'll recieve it, if ever. Mike doesnt seem to be active much, I'm seeing a not insignificant amount of people saying they've emailed the support email (which I also have done) and had nothing for prolonged periods of time. I get that its one person doing the software. But when you have a product people pay money for, surely having systems in place to deal with these things is wise? A bulk of keys ready to go etc. Someone else having the ability to generate them in a support capacity?

I dunno. I just wanted to carry on ripping and now having to wait while whoever/whatever catches up. Bit irritating.

I've noticed there's always a delay at the end of every 60 day period before the new free key arrives - I just assume this serves as a motivational helper to get people to buy who were on fence
