#1 Post by quequeg » Wed Apr 10, 2024 9:15 pm

Unable to decrypt newly released 4K UHD of King Kong (1976).

Sent MKB20_v77_King_Kong_3DC8.tgz file to SVQ.

Thanks
Cheers,

FWIW the latest KEYDB.cfg contains an entry for this MKBv77 disk:

Code: Select all

0x32EC72B9A3999996A17CB7EF938E1AEFF96CEAA3 = King Kong (King Kong) | D | 2024-01-03
so if SHA1(AACS/Unit_Key_RO.inf) for your disk is 0x32EC72B9A3999996A17CB7EF938E1AEFF96CEAA3 then copying this KEYDB.cfg file into your .MakeMKV directory should allow MakeMKV to rip it.

Edit: If your disk's SHA1(AACS/Unit_Key_RO.inf) isn't 0x32EC72B9A3999996A17CB7EF938E1AEFF96CEAA3, MakeMKV still cannot rip it and you're desperate, then there's a slim chance that I might be able to help if you PM me.

Not working for me, as yet.

Didn't try the KEYDB.cfg manual update business (actually not even sure where that file is on my Mac). Not sure I want to get into that. I think I'll just wait until the update happens as it normally does. Has always worked in the past.

The idea is that you'd download a brand new KEYDB.cfg file from http://fvonline-db.bplaced.net and then copy it into your .MakeMKV directory. No need to edit any existing file, although I think the MacOS filesystem is case-sensitive and so you might need to ensure that the new file is literally named KEYDB.cfg.

I just tried the keydb.cfg file and it didn't work. I copied it in the "Programs Files (x86)/MakeMKV" directory. MakeMKV is listing the protection as "AACS2.0/C v77". Below is the MakeMKV output.

MakeMKV v1.17.6 win(x64-release) started
Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as C:\Users\UM790/MakeMKV_log.txt
Using LibreDrive mode (v01.0 id=E9BA8ECC61EF)
Using direct disc access mode
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\UM790/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v77_King_Kong_3DC8.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted

Thanks for trying, but you need to copy KEYDB.cfg into the C:\Users\UM790/.MakeMKV directory, i.e. the same directory where MakeMKV wrote MKB20_v77_King_Kong_3DC8.tgz.

Default path (Windows) for the MakeMKV data directory is:

%UserProfile%\.MakeMKV

unless changed in Preferences. Drop keydb.cfg there.

Since I am using the 64-bit version, I also copied keydb.cfg to the "Program Files/MakeMKV" directory and restarted MakeMKV. Still the same results. The blu-ray disc works ok. It's only the UHD 4K disc that is having an issue.

Yes, MakeMKV cannot find the key for this particular disk. There may still be something I can do though - check PM.

Thanks, I didn't see your response previously. I copied the keydb.cfg file to the directory you said and restarted MakeMKV. MakeMKV is in the process of ripping this UHD 4K disc now. Will be done in about an hour.

If the current KEYDB.cfg works for you then I guess my job here is done .

Using the instructions here I installed FindVUK, ran synchronize (twice, once after setting PreferredLanguages = eng in the FindVUK.ini file), copied the keydb.cfg file from C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\AppData\Roaming\aacs over as KEYDB.cfg to C:/Users/[YOUR USER NAME]/.MakeMKV, and it ripped no problem.
